If I am in a restaurant and the server is not wearing a mask (which isn't often but does occur here in california) I tell them thanks for not masking. They usually express how terrible the masks are and they want nothing to do with them. I leave them an extra extra large tip.
I often tell them I like their smile. I also tip well in places that don't bug me for not wearing a mask when I am "supposed to," which is a lot here in L.A. But tons of people ignore the rules.

My little city is filled with free thinkers but a very small few still mask up… we (I have never, nor will I ever comply with any of it) complied for all of six months from the start of the pandemic… we now collectively, refuse to comply 😊 I did A LOT of ground work, teaching people, at the start and through the first year… I am proud of my community for not flinching even under extreme duress! I do the exact same thing, been doing this since they have been pushing masks. It does irk me walking into the grocery store and seeing employees masked, I use to say something about it at checkout but don’t bother anymore because the employees have no say in the matter and every store makes them wear them, even in a red state because the stores are big companies not mom and pop places.

What makes the most sense too me is the breakdown of our family values. Go back 3 or 4 generations and everything was totally different. We had fathers and mothers who got married, had children, raised them with common sense and in Church, taught them values and consequences for bad decisions. And so much more!
Now, these family core values are missing. White people racist. Masculinity is toxic. Values old fashioned. Grooming for everything under the sun...although there is nothing new under the sun.
And so, how do we explain all of us here? Are we 'extra' smart? Have the 'right' parents? Are the Founding Fathers our ancestors?

Funny thing about masks, I hated wearing them but a good thing happened when I did. I became incognito at the grocery store. I didn't have people I dislike bumping into me and I could avoid chatting with annoying acquaintances. I hate being stopped by chatty Cathies my wife knows. My wife works Saturdays and I do most of the shopping then. Masks allow me to push through the aisles less noticeable and spares me the bullshit factor. I get in and get out, take off the mask and get on my way.

Actually, at my son's college the mask has to be worn only by those who have not gotten the jab... so it is the exact opposite.
