How come it's in English?
Because we're the only cause of global warming
It's where he's staying. Prob a place more for those who speak English.
They should be regulating something serious, like banning the use of pineapple as a pizza topping.
Already frowned upon in the majority of the country. Not offered anywhere I have been lol. But you win best comment still.
Looks like pro pineapple shills have invaded the board.
Pineapple on pizza leads to the abominations that Germans call pizza...corn and potatoes is all I'll say...
"Dear guest..."
Hotel or temporary apartment accommodations?
We t-t-t-t-told you so!
u/#toldyou
66° to 68° in Freedom Units. Honestly that's not a terrible temperature band. But who are they to tell people how to run their houses.
Good luck keeping your temperature at 66 on a cold night when you’re not allowed to use heat.
Solution: Grab an RTX 4090 and a Ryzen 7950X and run Aida64 Extreme with Furmark.
Just tell them you were gaming. What? The house is 104F / 40C? No no no, that's just because of the CPU, the CPU you see!
Yup, can confirm. My fucking computer sucks during summer but is great during winter lol. And I have a server in the same room so two computers make great heaters.
Didn't expect for someone to speak my language on here.
As a senior Ayymd fanboi I feel its my sacred duty to inform you, that it's the GPU providind the most heat since it uses twice as much power as the CPU. Errybody nows nVidia + Intel = nuclear rectum.
The 7950X is putting out 95c as the new normal under stress testing. It's putting out more heat than a GPU. The GPU will throttle long before it ever reaches that temperature.
I also just checked in, and Intel's 13900K is also putting out up to 100c during the same workloads. We're talking temperatures so high that you used to blue screen, or solder used to crack from thermal expansion.
Some people have gotten the 13900K to hit 100c under water.
Also, there is at least one account so far of someone hitting 87c on a 420 Arctic Freezer ii, one of the best AiOs on the market. Custom water cooling doesn't seem to be improving the thermal performance on this front either.
For comparison, most high end GPUs under water do between 30c-70c under benchmarking conditions.
The 13900K can draw so much power that it can hit a monstrous 8GHz on LN2, and the overclocker considered that a baseline.
CPUs are the real space heater now, and when you throw in a hot mamba like the 4090 you'll probably be able to heat a two story home and basement!
It's about watts of energy, not max temperature. Honestly not sure if 7000 or 13000 puts out more watts though.
Heating a glass of water to boiling takes less energy (wattage) than bringing a gallon of water from room temperature to body temperature. Sure, the glass of water is hotter, but there's more heat energy now in the gallon.
How to slide a discussion about political interference in room temperature into a discussion about gaming machines!
Bingo.
I remember trying to explain to someone less knowledgeable the reference temperatures for the 3080 last year. They were freaking out about the temps even though they were well within normal range. They wanted to waste money on a waterblock specifically for it. I was facepalming and cringing so much
i ended up compromising by doing a 3 fan set up at the end of the pci slots. it dropped about 3 more degrees but it only cost $20 as opposed to $300
Oh lol that's good
Stick them in old Lian Li aluminium cases and watch those temps skyrocket!
Psh, crypto mine, or better yet, convert your dvd/blu-ray collection into .mkv and encode using h.265 (gpu enhanced) to .m4v
Perfect sleeping temp. But cold to live in
68° F during the day. But after 2300 hours when it really gets cold outside, heat is off. Many houses are going to drop down into the 50s overnight.
I have anemia and a few other medical problems, and if the temp isn't above 70 in my house, I start shivering and my body starts having trouble functioning sometimes(I have to dress super warm in the winter). Shit like this would kill me, and I would sooner riot outside a politicians house than deal with this.
Perhaps a blanket or a thick sweater might be handy?
Do you not leave the house when the temp is below 70?
I have heat pads and weighted blankets.
I do, I just get cold very easily, and have issues when it's really cold (Nerve issues and this is why I don't drive either). I have a lot more issues at home than out and about, because at least when you're moving, you're generating heat(and if you run from house to car, it's not as bad.)
My ex would think I was exaggerating tho, when I would start shivering, just from running out to the car from inside, when it was only 60 out.
Genuinely curious, not trying to make you feel defensive or anything and it's a bit off topic, but have you ever thought about moving to a climate with a year round mild climate?
I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and the cold bothers me and I frequently think about just pulling up stakes and heading to warmer pastures.
Just curious about if others with similar issues would think that an extreme measure or is a reasonable idea.
No pressure to answer or give personal details. I really am just extremely nosy.
Yes I have actually, I used to live in Arizona, and for most of the year I really enjoyed it.
I currently live in IL and the sling shot weather is terrible for me, but I'm the eldest of a lot of kids, and my siblings aren't doing well atm.
We are looking to save up and move to a southern state, once we have the means available
I see some people mentioning 19/20 C isn't so bad, but it's not about that specific temp. Once the residents of Italy agree to be micromanaged in this way, it's merely a matter of shoving them right off the slippery slope they willingly stepped on.
Also people don't think of others who can't handle the cold as much. I posted above that I have medical issues that make it hard for me, but I know tons and tons of old people who wear sweaters during 80 degree weather, and keep their houses like saunas, because they can't keep warm as well as they used to.
Sure it might not be bad for some, but it's hell for others to be forced to such low temperatures, especially in the cold months, where it is much easier to lose heat.
I say that do not vacation in Europe. If you do business there, then when in Rome, do like the Romans. But just go to the front desk and demand heat in the room or else you will give the hotel a bad recommendation on their website. I think corporations still dislike bad reviews.
bring a portable space heater
I'm sure they monitor your room temperatures and if they see you using a space heater they will bring the police in to arrest you
Will to popo take away your hair dyers? Bring six and plug those energy hogs in and heat your room.
Seems like the goal is to make people susceptible to getting sick. Nothing like getting a chill, and then getting exposed to the flu, to increase the odds of getting really sick.
Ivermectin will knock that flu out quickly.
I treated myself with ammonium chloride when I got that flu because Finnish virologist said it's effective against viruses & bacteria. Probably no wonder Chinese have used it as medicine for thousands of years.
You drank bleach or rubbed it on your skin?
I ate it. Every candy shelf in Finnish & Scandinavian grocery stores has candies made of ammonium chloride and even one of the most common alcohol drinks in Finland is made from it.
mmmm salted black licorice?
Correct. I had symptoms only for 2 days and then nothing. Every relative that took all the vaccines were very sick and one even was taken to hospital.
Remember folks! This is just how it STARTS. Just like the "two weeks to slow the spread," they will keep lowering the temperature threshold until the sheep start catching hypothermia and pneumonia in their apartments and freezing to death. This first step is gauging the public response. If they can get away with this foot in the door, they'll go for a full blown climate lockdown next.
I lived there for nearly 6 years. It was very normal for them to withhold buildings from turning on their heat until a certain date of the year. Usually November 1. October was pretty much the coldest because we could not have heat at that time. However, they did allow the heat to be on around 70°. This is just the beginning of the probable end.
My apartment building in VA doesn't switch to boilers until the end of September. So if there's a cold snap in Sept you better have plenty of blankets. And they've done this for decades. It's actually pretty common around here in the older apartment buildings that don't have individual apartment hvac units.
Yeah, my dorms and apartments in Baltimore were the same way (20 years ago). All older buildings. And no A/C either unless you could afford to rent a window buster. Fun times.
Respect the Authority.
I heard Cartman saying that in my head when I read your post!
Authoritah!!!
Hahahahahahahahah!!!
WEF puppet strikes again.
I'm interested in who exactly created this notice and where they got their information.
Because when I do a search on the Italian Ministry for Ecologic Transition, as of October 6th, their law says that people should lower their thermostats down by ONE DEGREE and that the heat should be turned off for ONE additional hour daily.
That seems like a big difference than what this notice says.
That's not really that cold, 68 fahrenheit? I haven't used my heater in like 8 months so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact number but i think i basically keep mine at that temp at night anyway during the winter, if i keep it higher during the day i don't think it's by much
You missed the part about HEAT OFF from 2300-0500
Damn I keep my AC on that during the summer!
I guess there's the argument that you run it a little cold to be used to the cold, or you run it a little cold to cool off. It's an interesting debate.
Hope it doesn't get too cold in Europe during the winter. Having the heating completely off between 2300 and 0500 where I live would be devastating, my pipes would freeze!
If it is 0 outside the heater won't ever get to 68. Especially in a building that is big, or the doors open and close all day as visitors go in and out.
My home right now is 75.2F and it's 32.18F outside.
Sounds like you have freakishly good insulation.

Article from 2020 Seems like the Italians have been controlling your heat for a while now?
Does that mean you have to let Authority inside your home to check your thermostats?
We really live in crazy times...
They only need to see your gas usage or electricity usage or they can have a device that allows the government to control it. In California you can install a device that allows the energy company to shut down power and such to your AC in lieu of a cheaper energy rate. The device turns a certain color on when it is activated which I don't think people had to worry about until this year when we were hit with 108 heat and our grid almost failed.
I'm not sure we have those devices in Europe, yet (but I don't know for certain). Going by the usage alone is going to be claim against claim and the only way for them to prove it is by having someone visit you to check the temperature...
Power companies in America have also used excessive electricity to report home owners to the police that they might be growing marijuana in their home in the past
That's an insane "power grab" (pun intended), but we are talking Italy, not the US...
And infrared pictures of their roofs...
To be fair 19 degree celsious is what 66 degree Fahrenheit?
I keep my house at below 60 degree Fahrenheit at night.
Its comfortable and I sleep well.
Strange move or a government that was willing to destroy its economy to "protect" the respiratory health of its citizens. Mold and mildew will be running rampant in Italy this winter.
Is it 19 or is it 20 either way that’s bau household temps around here. But telling people what to do is fucked
19/20C is very acceptable - especially in Italy. Its OK here in the UK, even a ;little too high perhaps
OK. Here's the drill.
MAXIMUM temperature of 66/68. THEN, at 11pm, you have to shut off ALL heating. Unless your home is wrapped in a 3 foot thick layer of bubble wrap, the temperature will not be staying at 66 or 68. Particularly if its 45 or 37 degrees outside.
sauce: source
Not the point; Govt doesnt rule OVER the people
In italy there are still 30 degrees C at the moment, I think these guys can survive without using heating. Some people just like to cry, and btw that temperature (19-20)is still decent to keep in winter.
Just wait for winter and -30C in mountainous regions. People will freeze to death in their cold houses because of 19-20C temperature limit & no heating at night.
There is no -30C in italy....is not the pole.
https://www.jtgtravel.com/europe/italy/the-coldest-places-in-italy/
Pls, I have like half family in Italy. Trust me these temperatures are incredible cases, that happen maybe 1 every 50 years and if you live on a mountain. Today in Italy Rome, Naples and other major cities temperatures were from 30 to 27 degrees C.
You named all mountains places btw...
What is 20°© in American?
Hey. You cannot copyright a temperature! No fair!
68 degrees my friend.
20C is 68F
Good thing that new super-conservative awake God-Family-Country Prime Minister and her government just got sworn in, eh?
<retch>
66.8 / 68 in Freedom units. Heck of a lot higher than I keep it during the winter.
I 100% believe that people should be allowed to use their heat/ac as they see fit.
Having said that, the idea that people are going to get sick or suffer greatly if their home temp falls beliw 68 degrees during the day or gets cold over night is just silly.
It's only been the last 3 or 4 generations who have been able to have a consistent temp 24/7/365.
I get being pissed off that you can't use your own property, but acting like droves of people are going to die off or suffer greatly because of this is taking it a bit far.
Hotels and apartments don't generally have fireplaces. Same with trailers or even many newer homes - especially in places that are normally warm. Kind of like some cars sold in certain parts of the world might not have a heater.
I know that during the big winter storm of 2021 I was without power for 4 days, and the temps were as low as -2F in my area. My fireplace worked enough to heat our living room, but at night our bedrooms fell to between 37 and 42 depending on how late we ran the fireplace. People died. I can't imagine what people did that were unlucky enough to have just brought a baby home from the hospital, or that had their elderly parents living with them.
Also I don't think the main problem is the 68F - I think it is the fact that they are turning off the heat at night. It won't even be near 68F in the morning.
We're talking about Italy in October. Again, I think people are being a little hysterical over this.
Stolen elections have consequences.
I would quick build a rocket stove and burn a chair if I had to.
I thought the new Italian PM was a white hat
She has been in job only for 2 weeks. This has nothing to do with her.
And yet, she immediately pledged to uphold Ukraine's fight for freedom.
'White hat' could well be a misnomer here.
It's not bullshit, made up, or fake in any ways and I fucking live in Europe you fucking jew.
That a way !
Whoa.
