Man forced to ditch $115K Ford EV truck during family road trip to Chicago: ‘biggest scam of modern times’
A Canadian man is sharing his frustrating experience – and the expenses incurred – after he purchased a Ford F150 Lightning EV earlier this year.
They want you to get EV's to further limit your freedom of movement.
"He also wanted an environmentally friendly vehicle as owning one is "responsible citizenship these days."
"Responsible ownership" eh? Does he mean that imaginary "social contract" where people make poor choices and government never faces any consequences for its bad decisions? Do-gooders everywhere should learn from this, but they won't. The Karens of the world get more mileage from being victims and socially "aware" than they would get from products and ideas that actually work.
He was actually proving W.C, Fields and PT Barnum's famous statements.....
" There's a sucker born every minute."
"A fool and his money are soon parted."
My question is always, how did a fool and his money get together to begin with?.
Probably the old fasioned way, inherited it or married it! 😄
That’s a good one!
I love how the morons who own these shit heaps completely ignore the manufacturing process of the batteries that run them and the increased power drain to run them
This 👆👆.
Feel bad for this traveler but my favorite part from the story was this:
Think EV-lovers will learn from that???
Also, I appreciated his quote:
At least he learned his lesson. We have a CHOICE. We're not sheep
He learned from his kids math class
common core.
It's all money making scheme, they know batteries are bad for the environment so they make them in other shithole countries
And then when everyone has switched over they can limit our use per week (remotely), essentially rolling blackouts, cause we the cause. These people are sick.
For this to come into effect the DS/WEF/NWO have to win this war.
If they do (God forbid), you think diesel/petrol vehicles will be sanction free?
EVs are awesome, mine goes from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds for the third of the price of the petrol equivalent.
Maybe North America is not equipped enough with HPCs, but I’ve travelled thousands of miles across Europe without any problems in my different EVs since my first Model S 6 years ago.
Wall boxes here in Europe are cheap as well, and houses here in Scandinavia are usually equipped with a 11kW system anyway, so no need for expensive upgrades.
I don’t buy into the “green” part though, and some EVs might actually be more net polluting than an ICE equivalent.
But they’re just so much more fun to drive, and I don’t understand the hate EVs get on this forum from people that have never driven one, and bases their view from extreme cases like this.
Talking about price to "fill up" is irrelevant, as that price actively rises the more strain there is on the electrical system and the more they swap out efficient energy generation with inefficient energy generation.
The price of an EV to fill up in 10 years -- assuming your battery lives that long -- will rise substantially and look nowhere near the same as it does now.
Some people hate on EVs for the wrong reasons, but some people apparently have a very short sighted view on the things they proclaim as positive to boot.
The batteries on my newest EV (Ioniq5) will outlive the car itself. A very good estimate is that the pack will have at least 60% SoH in 20 years, that’s 168mi of range, not a huge amount, but good enough to get you to and from work if you charge two-three times a week (total of 10 hours/charging during the week).
There’s currently an Ioniq 5 running as a taxi here in Scandinavia that just passed 80.000mi, battery health still 100%. it seems that age degradation will be the biggest impact on this generation of battery packs.
The improvements in BMS tech, battery packs and the use of buffers to avoid use/misuse of the top/bottom voltages has had an enormous impact the last couple of years.
Economy wise is very difficult to predict. But I still think you’ll be able to find 10 hours a week where the electricity price will still be reasonable.
The problem I see is if NWO/WEF (great reset) wins over the great awakening. Then we’ll see great restrictions in how we travel, and we’ll be screwed anyway.
My money is on TGA, or I wouldn’t be here, and I see a great future where ICE and BEVs can live side by side, like petrol and diesel used to do.
And then it comes down to funfactor per dollar, and imho that category is currently topped by BEVs.
Driving a quiet car is one of the best arguments for an EV.
If you want the engine noise, there are systems out there that will give you the sound of any automobile ever made.
I used to have a 911, and to do a 0-60 cost me a few dollars in gas, my model S costs me cents, and is very, very much faster.
Newer EVs are by law required to have sound to alert pedestrians driving below 20mph, at least here in the EU.
I get what you mean and I can't say it is all evil. But when they are claiming we are changing the weather and hurting the environment, at the same time "Hey everyone, let's use rare Earth metal batteries and get everyone on e-cars!"
I think their intention is just to have everything as digital as possible, very little mechanical (e.g. cars.)
My point is essentially that they are lying to get what they want. Remember when they attacked BTC due to the environment? Years ago I said it's great as you can use excess energy to mine and essentially store energy. Now that Blackrock bought in, that is what they are saying. And people parrot that like when it was "bad".
Yupp and on top of that Govs like Michigan are considering GPS tracking milage tax rather than just gas tax. Uh, fuck no.
That is a feature, not a bug for demanding that people drive EVs and high mileage tiny cars.
The Feds and the states have been demanding more and more efficient vehicles all the while ignoring the obvious reduction in gas tax.
It's the same old playbook, use govt to create a problem and then use even more govt to propose a solution.
They can shutdown regular gas powered vehicles as well. It was Ford that said if you miss a payment they will start turning off features. They already control that. I just think they want to toy with the sheep
I would not own a vehicle made after about 10 years ago without swapping it to a standalone ECU.
You could always just snip the antenna wire that goes to that shark fin on the roof.
Can't control what they can't communicate with.
Just cover it in foil...😂
Ha yea, well, I like to delete the emissions and put louder mufflers on everything too so, until they all rust away I'll stick with my pre-96s. Reupholster the seats and a nice stereo in the dash and I don't even feel like I'm missing out on anything not buying new.
At that price Ford should have packaged it with a Mustang 5.0 Coyote for a dinghy...
💯💅
You mean like golf carts.
I can't believe he thought he could do a ROAD TRIP in an electric vehicle. Yikes. What else does he believe in? Someone needs to sell him a bridge, he is a good mark.
You could do it in a Prius or a Volt, because they can use power from Gasoline as well.
Well, I could tell he's a good mark because he's a canadian who bought a FORD, but those are fighting words so I will desist. haha
It's hard to siphon electricity outta someone's vehicle when you run out of gas in an emergency. Just sayin'...
what an idiot. thanks for the morning laughs
Imagine having a for profit company telling you that you'll be a responsible citizen by giving them money... and believing it lololol
Mandatory word study for today:
"Gaslighting"
Example of gaslighting:
EVs are environmental friendly.
Of course he wasn't properly informed and it's Ford's fault...
He's a complete fucking idiot.
Imagine having a for profit company telling you that you'll be a responsible citizen by giving them money... and believing it
"iM HeLpiNG"
They are not EV's (electric vehicles), they are BOV's (battery operated vehicles). Electric implies plugging something into a electrical source for use.
Like!!! This is excellent. Need to remember for the next dumbass I debate.
They will also tell you how fast they accelerate, much faster than a gas car at the same price. I tell them "follow me to florida and see who gets there fisrt" (i live in quebec/canada)
That’s another excellent response and fact. Different but related, I’m looking forward to the first battery car fire in our district. (On the fire set here) We’ve trained and I’m very curious how it will all play out.
I think the battery car fire argument is bogus and could backfire. There is a lot of battery cars here and I think I've might have heard of only 1 fire. They exist but might be more rare than we think, leading the other EV cultist to fire back saying there are less EV fires than gasoline car fires.
Battery car fires are extremely difficult to extinguish. Adding to this Lithium batteries overheat while charging and have been the cause of numerous house and building fires. Even from battery bicycles and scooters.
Child slave labor mined lithium is bad for the world, children and the environment.
Battery powered cars are even causing parking structures to collapse.
Lol. Environmentally friendly they are not. Overall they are more polluting than gasoline vehicles.
and they are mandating them in 2035 in canada and most of europe. These at the top really are pushing EV's down our throats hard. And so many sheeps here just jump in blindly, like it's a cult.
This guy is helpless, can't even grasp that government brought him to this point.
What a stupid idiot
He thought the truck charges by lightening
EVs are so they can remotely switch off if you attempt to go outside the 15 minute city boundary. Anyone who doesn't get this by now and is still buying them deserves everything that's coming to them. And I will point and laugh.
If these damn people would stop virtue signaling this shit would stop.
Bought the puts on reading glasses $130,000+ vehicle that runs on 🦄💨
Actually thought it would work for his family
Obviously a Democrat voter
Most likely vaxxed boosted and chipped
Interpreting question...unicorn farts?
They fart white? Nice
You are given a range on the dash - figure this is 25% optimistic. Tesla has millions of charge stations scattered around the world, Ford does not. You have a gps on your phone, plan charges into your trip; even if you aren't that far down. Eat a meal? charge. Pee? charge. Sight see? Charge.
If you are going into an areas that doesn't have chargers, this is like swimming out into the ocean without places to shelter. Who do you blame? If you don't have adapters so you can use Tesla charges, who's fault is that?
EV's are not for everyone, everywhere. They are getting better, but to say that that they are a direct replacement for everyone's use case today, is a false statement.
Likewise, to say that nobody has a use case that justifies an EV is just as ignorant. For some people, these are a very sensible, economical and dependable replacement for a gasoline vehicle. My use case isn't your use case.
Seems he did ZERO research into this shit bucket of a "truck". He did it to "save the environment", and he gets everything he deserves.
Stupid people need cars too.
Great new slogan for EV owners:
"Stupid people need stupid cars."
Currently, they are holding meetings with local businesses across the U.S. and presenting the EV trucks and straight up lying to the owners and leaders of these businesses. The sales people know Ford corporate is lying.
This plays too much into 15 minute cities.
No Refunds chump
"responsible citizenship"? the lithium for EVs is mined by child slaves very responsible funny how butt boy (TRANS SEC) forgets to mention that FACT
The lithium mines I have seen depicted are massive open pit mines, not possible for child labor. You are probably confusing the lithium with the cobalt that is also essential to the battery composition, which is often mined in piecemeal fashion with children. But the lithium extraction is hugely energy dependent, mostly from hydrocarbon fuels.
Wait! No One vacations to Chicago EVER! Also noticing the writing on his shirt?? Why was he headed to Chicago really?
perhaps in failing to proceed, the EV was smarter than we give it credit for?
Canadian man with EV drives to Chicago for vacation, runs out of juice, takes the bus, and stays at a Motel 6 in the south side of Chicago.
Brilliant!
Everyone to their own taste. He comes from Winnipeg, so the view of Lake Michigan would be an eye-filler. The skyscrapers are also first class scenery and works of art. The Field Museum is world-class. It is easy to walk around.
$115 000 for a truck is almost as ridiculous as $30,000 for a purse (oprah encounter in Sweden or switzerland).
And whatever happened to that ship with 3000 electric Mercedes on it that was sinking because one or two caught fire?
people.comhuman-interestcargo-ship-carrying-luxury-cars-sinks-after-fire Cargo Ship Carrying Porsches, Lamborghinis and More Luxury Cars ... The cargo ship, which was carrying cars from Germany to the United States, sank on Tuesday
Thank you. Doesn't getting water on EV batteries cause them to combust? Could they do so while under water? Science fiction nightmare.
Exactly correct. Lithium will burn the oxygen out of water...or any other oxygen-bearing chemical compound, like carbon dioxide, sand, or limestone dust. It will even more enthusiastically burn the fluorine out of typical fluorine-based firefighting agents, like halotron or halon.
To be fair it was $115k Canadian dollars.
86,000+ is still a good bit of money for a Ford pickup and I assume there's an adjustment for income too.
Oh come on. Anyone who has ever owned a cell phone is aware the advertised charge length is only true for the first 2 weeks you own it. If you are shocked by this you are not a serious person
If you really want maximum efficiency, you do a hybrid, and / or a diesel electric - like a locomotive.
Hauling a ton of batteries defeats much of the benefits, and adds a lot of risk.
Ford's EV program has been a disaster.
Ford recently came out and said they have to "rethink" the all-EV push.
"I can't even get to my cabin!"...1st world problems 😂
He probably took as many 💉 as a responsible citizen too...sad
Why take a familv trip to Chicago? was Detroit too far? Do they live in San Fransisco, LA, or Portland?
I think maybe five minutes of doing a little research could have saved him a lot of money and frustration. Electric vehicles certainly can not work in Canada given the temperature extremes.
Also I have watched too many videos of these things spontaneously combusting. If you are driving it when that happens you are fucked. If it happens at home it will burn your house down. No thanks.
Stupid.
A road trip to Chiraq? Great idea.
Towing? Pfft...

Deport him for stupidity.
It's about time a car company announces they aren't making EV's.
What a dumbass.
