From 1999 to 2009 I worked 12-hour nights 6 days a week. I remember when Obama made President and how this one Black Woman at work started Twirking and dancing the day he won. She hollered so loud about 'Finally a black man whose gonna show you white people a thing or two," or something along that line. But I slept through a lot of things at that time right up to the day I finally got permanently laid off due to the failure of the banks and the automotive industry bail outs. In 2010 I went to college to learn something new, which didn't help my job search afterwards. I was 50 yo. I did remember seeing a group of Christian young people on our campus passing out brochures and asking people to be saved. And how one young girl in my class was complaining about them. I thought that to be odd.
Then I remember when Hillary started campaigning around 2014/2015 when she said she 'believed in women's rights for abortion up to Birth' and how 'I'm gonna shut down all the coal mines.' That was it for me. Especially the aborting of babies and the KILLING of those babies who were full term. That's when I asked my husband "When did this happen?" "When did they start aborting babies at 9 months?" "When was killing a baby believed to be okay?"
So then when I saw Trump for the first time and heard everything he said, I knew I had been sleeping through a lot of things I once thought sacred. So I knew I had to vote for him. I started opening my eyes to more news outlets and finding out things I would never have believed before. So around 2014/15 was when I really woke up to the truth. I voted for Trump twice and have never regretted it. I will be voting for him again this year if the good Lord is willing to allow me life to make it there.

Well thank you my friend. If I hadn't worked nights and slept days for those 10 years, I would have probably gotten to see more of the news. Whether it would have informed me or brainwashed me, I suppose God knew what he was doing by keeping me in the dark for awhile.

Actually, during the 5 years and a half I grew without my father, my Mum’s Aunt came to look after us, and especially me as she never was allowed to have marry by her parents (loooong story, let’s say my Mum’s French family might have be nobles, they were not less fscked up than my Father’s Bosnian-Croat family), so I was the closest thing she had to what would have been her own baby.

She didn't even blink an eye as she replied "Makes sense. I never trusted any of them."

9/11 for me also. I started digging into it in 2003, when you could still find decent unadulterated info on the web (before Google search results censorship).
The damage on the outside of the Pentagon never made sense (no damage from the jet wings???). One thing after another started to not make so much sense either. I was lucky that I grew up in a family that was mostly very conservative and very distrustful of the government and the police. My grandfather was particularly vocal about it. He voted Republican, but he hated paying taxes and hated anyone who tried to flex their power over regular people. The government took his family's land, so he had his reasons. And I always had that as an example. My other grandparents were huge Kennedy fans.
I'm 44 now, and I remember voting Libertarian in all of my first few elections, including the Bush/Gore election of 2000. Then I started voting Constitution Party. It wasn't until Ron Paul ran in 2008 that I was willing to vote Republican. As people said back then, Ron Paul "cured my apathy." I love that man.
9/11 and Alex Jones opened my eyes to the real evil, though. People love to hate Alex, but he's responsible for a lot of people coming to their senses around that time. I became a truther on November 22, 1963 (at 9 years old). My dad and I used to shoot groundhogs at a farmers field near our cottage with bolt action .22 rifles with scopes. So when the news said Oswald got off 3 shots with his military bolt action rifle from the 6th floor and hit JFK in the head while his car was moving at 11 mph, I said to my father, "how is that possible"? When we saw the Zabruder film (which was most likely doctored by the CIA), my dad said, "someone else shot the president from the front". This made sense to me given our groundhog hunting experience. So I concluded that the MSM, the doctors at Parkland hospital and the Warren Commission had told us a big lie and then tried very hard to cover it up.
On September 11, 2001 I was 47 years old. I didn't need my father's opinion to see that the 2 World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon were not hit by commercial aircrafts commandeered by Saudi jihadists with box-cutters. The whole thing was ludicrous - a plane would crumple up like a piece of tin foil when hitting a concrete building re-enforced by 1.5" steel frame. There was no video of the Pentagon strike - that doesn't make sense give the number of CCTV cameras at the Pentagon. The buildings were destroyed by controlled demolition, supported by a crude, first generation CGI "film" showing the planes slicing through the concrete like butter, the Pentagon was hit by a missile (not an airplane) and United Airlines Flight 93 crash in Pennsylvania was a total fake. Why would our government and the media lie to us? They had to destroy records that would have shown that corrupt politicians had stolen billions of dollars, to create fear to gin up support for a war against Mid-eastern terrorists and to quickly pass the Patriot Act which legalized expanded surveillance abilities of law enforcement, including by tapping domestic and international phones.
Since then the world has only gotten worse. But the formula that works for me is:

If you watched the Kenyan's speech at the 2004 DNC convention, you knew he was on deck. That was a wake up call, for me, that something bigger was going on. I had started to question 9-11. I also believed, for many years, that the GOP HAD to be involved with the Democrats in some way, because they never really went after them in campaign ads. Ever. It's been a 20+ year journey for me. Now, I see why everything seemed off for so long. It's like hearing your car making noise, but not being exactly sure what is wrong. Now, I've been under the hood, took a repair course, and see it for what it all is.

Yup, I was a stoned teenager at the time but had some older friends pointing out the flaws in the narrative. My brother bought into it and enlisted, told me first hand of what was going on in Iraq. No WMD's and some strange things my brother told me about was when I really started paying attention. Then magically Obama shows up unable to provide a birth certificate and I pretty much became an annon looking for the truth and ignoring the bullshit on the television.
When Obummer didn't undo the patriot act and continued the EOs Bush signed in after promising to "undo every unconstitutional order" then got reelected I was pretty much no longer a tadpole and a full frog just didn't know it yet.
I read 1984 in 1984 when I was still in grade school.

I took some college classes on Public Relations and learned the most important stories are very short and buried on page A19 of the newspapers. The goal of PR was to prevent the company you were representing from appearing in the papers at all. I definitely got Winston Smith vibes from that revelation.
