if you have security concerns, and you have more than one machine, especially one you are able to wipe and reload with no consequences (a raspberry pi is great for this application) there's no risk at all.

i wouldn't advise downloading any programs, but music and movies are super easy to find, share, and enjoy free of charge.

All along, they were the criminals using it. I think they only wanted to control it and prevent the technology from being developed as a tool for the people to break free of the financial cages. We need freedom, not new currencies or silver sheckles. Only currency that matters are hearts and minds.
Further, the VPN I use has an internet killswitch baked into the app. It can shut down internet access PC wide if the VPN goes down, as well as directing the switch at specific programs. When I'm torrenting I just use the Killswitch over the entire PC, unless I have a reason to worry about a constant connection, in which case I'll direct it directly at the BT client itself.
Connect with a VPN (turn on a kill switch so if you get disconnected from VPN, your torrent client doesn't talk to your local ISP).
Use a client like Deluge or QBittorrent, something open source. uTorrent used to be the best client before the founder sold the company, who close sourced the code (so you don't know what's in there). Use it at your own risk.
Best way is to use a VPN, buy a seedbox subscription, and download with the seedbox (then transfer file to your computer via VPN (even better if it's to a Virtual Machine).

Safely? If you are not downloading copyrighted material in a country that prosecutes that behavior, then you have nothing to worry about. The only issue is you might want to limit the upload and download speeds as full speed could make the internet in your house so slow as to be unusable for anyone else.
I'm a unix admin. I've been playing with FreeBSD and Linux sense the mid 90s. I've also been using torrents for years. I've used a half dozen different clients. Etc. Etc. Its not hard but if people need help/advice I can try if I have time.

Well I don’t know if CMZ said it was coming in “hours” specifically, but I was also under the impression the file was coming that same day.
Hopefully we were just too eager and “phase 0 is slow” was his intention all along.
