Went yesterday with some church members. Theater was packed. The film was moving, well written and the acting by all involved was spot on. I'm still processing my emotions. It was that powerful.

Just saw it last night. The showing was sold out. Everyone clapped long and hard at the end. I remember people kind of clapping at lord of the rings but nothing like this.
The employee said every showing had sold out and the last showing of Indiana Jones yesterday failed to produce 1 attendee while Sound of Freedom sold out so they didn't even run the movie.
The Demons can try to poopoo Sound of Freedom but the fact remains it was sparsely played nationwide while Indiana Jones was in nearly every single theater and Sound of Freedom STILL won the July 4th box office.

One local theater expanded to 3 showings on July 4 after selling out the only one they had scheduled. Now that same theater has 8 showings Thur (today),6 on Friday, 7 on Sat, and 6 on Sunday. This is what success looks like, even if it is just for one "premiere" weekend. They were trying to bury this movie by limiting showings and distribution. Note that it did better than Indiana Jones (4000 theaters) while showing at half as many (2000 theaters) on July 4.

When I went to see the movie I waited in the lobby (can’t eat things like that cause I am allergic) and while I was there I saw a lot of people buying popcorn and all movie food and I thought, the only movie here that can attracted so many patriots (wearing 4of July clothing including me) was Sound of Freedom, the other movies theaters were empty. The reason he was deadpan in Person of Interest, is because of how 'dead serious' the subject matter is.

Remember the movie Outbreak? How angry the citizens would get as their freedoms were suppressed? That's a reasonable and normal reaction. But even in that film, it was portrayed as being the source of chaos and conflict. Films since then have been showing the public mostly going along with protocol, or at least most people doing so.

There was a reason in the editing phase of The Thin Red Line, Terrence Malick unexpectedly shifted much of the film's character focus from the likes of Adrien Brody and other rising stars and big names, to the totally unassuming and unknown Caviezel. If nothing else, watch that film for the performance of Caviezel, as well as Elias Koteas and Nick Nolte. It's hilarious that the likes of Hollywood hot properties Travolta, Clooney, and Cusack had bit parts.
Its also important to note that the contentious scenes between Caviezel and Sean Penn were hardly even acting; they had a true clash of worldviews and outlooks on set, that came through in the dialogue and body language, which Malick encouraged for the characters to reflect the dynamic between the actors.
Knowing what a douchebag Sean Penn is now, I'm going to have to find that movie again just to see that. Great comment.
