A great article by Dr. Jockers explaining several important facts about magnesium and depression...this is a very user friendly site...I hope this helps someone as so many suffer episodes of depression at some point in their lives...it is important to understand the different forms of magnesium, as they have different healing properties..I personally use magnesium glycinate for nocturnal leg cramps...it works well...a blend is really the best way to go...
I also use magnesium oil spray for nocturnal muscle cramps and I love it...it works very quickly so I only use when necessary...there is a leg cramp homeopathy by Hyland's that I also utilize and keep on hand because it works so quickly...
I put a couple teaspoons of this mag powder in my smoothies. I had a heart arrythmia for couple months, I went to the doctor, he wanted to send me to a cardiologist for a heart monitor. Needless to say, I never went to the cardiologist, I started using this and my heart arrythmia was gone. I did some research and found out if you are mag deficient it can cause arrythmias. I haven't had even 1 flutter in the last 6 months, that is the honest truth.

Absolutely...magnesium is so good for the heart and most people are SO deficient in this mineral...there are SO many benefits of using magnesium it is truly unbelievable...I am glad you had such success...
I suffer from heart arrythmia as well. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT). For me, potassium, magnesium and maintaining my hydration have been very beneficial. I still get the odd attack but, it is very manageable when it happens.
You are probably aware that you need over 4,000mg. of potassium per day...most think it is 99mg...electrolytes are so important, also...when I drink water I always add electrolytes...dehydration is also a factor in blood pressure...one of the first things to do for elevated blood pressure is to hydrate...pretty easy addition...
Yes, I have an electrolyte supplement, as well. In my case, I have found that I don't need to consume the electrolytes every day, unless I am sweating lots. Then, I'm sure to take it. I've had this all my life. Over time I have developed a system. Doctors weren't much help so, I figured it out on my own.
BELIEVE ME...you are probably better off to do all this on your own...I have been making my own medical decisions and doing my own thing for myself and my family since 1970...so I concur completely with the fact of learning whatever healing modality you need to learn to help yourself...I have AT LEAST 20 I can choose from...I have NEVER found anything I could not cure or at least improve thanks to God's help and guidance...after all He wants us well...plus your body tells you what works and what doesn't and what it needs...
I was in the hospital at my birth and I spent one night in 1978 due to a miscarriage...otherwise I have never been in the hospital and I sure don't intend to start...I love figuring out a disease process and then choosing a treatment for it...so much fun...
I used to have that. Turns out it was caused by drinking and too much masturbation.
did it also cause tennis elbow? Just asking for a friend. kek
Don't forget iodine.
There are so many useful therapies to utilize for depression...homeopathics, Bach Flower Remedies, herbs, SAD lights, B vitamins, amino acids, essential oils and even iodine and selenium levels...these are all posts for another day...the important point is to realize there are successful alternatives to mood altering psychotropic drugs, which are VERY harmful...
Magnesium is not absorbed real well through the digestive system. Taking Epsom salt baths is a good way to get your magnesium. It is easily absorbed through the skin.
My spa bath recipe:
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. Epsom salt
3 tsp. (1 TB.) sea salt
8 drops essential oil...
add to warm water and SOAK...
I also love Dr. Teal's bath salt blends...never take a plain bath...
Can all ages use this recipe? For example would you say it’s okay for my 19 month 7 and 9 year old? Thank you for you knowledge. I always appreciate your contribution.
Well...that is a good question...I would be very comfortable with using this with the 7 and 9 year old...you could cut it in half or even a quarter perhaps to try it out...the biggest thing is to make sure you are using essential oils that are okay for their age. I utilize the book, "Evidence Based Essential Oil Therapy" by Dr. Scott A Johnson to determine what oils are allowable for what age group. Externally oils have to be greatly diluted for babies (birth -12 mos.) and then at different dilution for toddlers (1-5) and 6-11, 12-17 and 18+. These lists are in this book ...so I base my answer on that...especially which EO's are acceptable for which age groups. By the 6-11 age you can use all EO's except birch and wintergreen. For the baby you can choose from lots of good oils ie. chamomile, lavendar, all the citruses, frankincense, melaleuca, myrtle, etc. Believe me if you use EO's that is the best book to get for safety and usability of oils. I don't think there would be a problem with the other ingredients...but like I said...dilute to try to be sure...these are great if the kids are sick...
Let me know how it works out...I have grandchildren in that age range, so I would be curious...my family uses this but I never thought about it for the kids...I just usually topically use EO's on them diluted with coconut oil or a carrier oil...
And thank you for the compliment...I am always glad to share my knowledge with people...everything I know I learned from others...or through trial and error with my 5 guinea pigs...bless their hearts...we did some strange stuff...
Thank you, I will definitely be checking out my local bookstore for the book you recommended. I have another question. Tonight my spouse and I were talking about a women’s annual visit to their OBGYN. Do you find this a necessity? Or are there holistic routes to this?
Well, I decided to quit mammograms and I haven't been to a gyno for a long time...but I am 73 and still have everything I was born with and have never been on hormonal birth control...so I am healthy in the female department. I am recommending my daughters quit mammograms also even though my sister died of breast cancer at 39. After successfully treating my husband with prostate cancer, I no longer fear cancer...especially since we know of SO many cancer cures. I take IVM once a week prophylactically, so I am good...I believe castor oil could dissolve any cysts or tumors. There is a product called TumoRid that a friend developed that also dissolves tumors.
As far as a pap smear, unless you have no problems like STD's or endometriosis...I am really not sure what they are looking for and what value they have...I think they worry these can lead to cancer. Even if me or my daughters had cancer, I would NOT do radiation or chemo...so I suppose it can be a diagnostic tool...but for tumors or cysts I would still use castor oil to dissolve this type of tissue...I guess it is up to you and how well and healthy you are...you know your body...I would think if anything was wrong your body would tell you...I don't like most doctors and I definitely don't like hospitals now that they have shown their true colors.
I am lucky that I have a doctor that lets me do pretty much whatever I want...but I know that the powers that be at Medicare want XY and Z and he suggests these things...but says ultimately it is my decision what to do. I am blessed to be on no medications and I truly try to treat anything that comes up alternatively. I bought a Rife machine lately so I have something new to treat things with.
So I am not sure if there are any holistic routes to any of this other than treatment. Perhaps if you have a homeopath or a functional doctor as your main doctor they would know better than I as to what is available alternatively. I know that I have been made aware of gladolinium which is used in contrast MRI's and the danger that utilizing that poses. I have never had a contrasting MRI...so I am at least safe from that. I am sure you will make the right decision for yourself. I do fear that so many diagnostic tools are used to make everyone think they need more drugs or surgery...but perhaps there is benefit to use diagnostic tools sparingly.
As for the book, I ordered it online...I do not know if it is available used...it is a bit pricey...but well worth the cost...I use that to make homemade salves, and he gives combination EO suggestions to take internally and he actually has some homeopathic information in the book. It is my go to EO book. I like that it utilizes EO safety as you choose treatments for yourself and your children. I know Robert Tisserand wrote the definitive book on EO safety, but I doubt the lay person wants to muddle through that...this doctor does a fantastic job of incorporating this in his recommendations. If you are into EO's you really need to check out Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt's Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy site...he has the definitive treatment for shingles that I have used the one time my husband got shingles. His information is amazing.
I also use homeopathics and Dana Ullman has some of the best resource books on homeopathics. I have to say I would take the kids to the doctor for a diagnosis and then I would just come home and treat it alternatively. I have used homeopathics since 1980 and a serious homeopath would benefit from Boericke's Materia Medica. I use a multitude of other healing modalities that are safe and have great benefit. I usually throw everything I have at something as quickly as possible and I find most things heal within a day or two, unless it is something chronic...but early treatment often prevents chronic conditions. I have collected a wealth of home remedies...with 5 kids I have seen most everything. I always utilize echinacea/goldenseal or extra vitamin C at the first sign that anything is off...very often that is all I need.
I did not mean to overwhelm you with all this...but with your growing family you have a wonderful opportunity to keep your kids healthy and happy without drugs and all the trappings that Rockefeller medicine wants you to believe is essential. You sound like a very conscientious mom and I applaud you for that...I pray that God bless your family...I have spend most of my life studying alternative healing and by my age, I have either a home or alternative remedy for just about anything...it has been interesting, if nothing else...and covid really challenged me beyond what I thought I already knew...best to you and yours...
Truly if I can ever be of help let me know...just DM me...
Thank you, thank you! There are no underlying issues at all. We’ve been together since 16 and have an extremely healthy marriage. Everything you said really validated the feelings we have about it all. We had the baby and haven’t seen a doctor since and really have no desire to return! I’m learning but can usually stop any issue in its tracks. I may not have as much knowledge as you just yet, but I will get there. Thank you for passing it on to the next generation! Again, MUCH appreciated.
I am so proud of you for going down the path your heart tells you...your children are such precious gifts and there is NO ONE in this world that loves your children as much as you do. Your role is to love and protect them. I just want to say I am a book person so usually when I learn something I have a reference book...I have two bookcases full of reference material...I used to only read non-fiction alternative health books. So if there is any modality or info you want, I have probably read about it. You really sound like you both have it together...when you stay away from doctors and hospitals you miraculously become more well...isn't life funny...my question about well baby visits is...if a baby is well...why do they need to go to a doctor???? Especially if you don't vax????? Good health to you all...you will LOVE the book...
How about fresh air, sunshine, and faith in God Almighty? Get outside and marvel at the wonderous world that has been created just for you! Walk barefoot in the grass, follow a sparkling stream, sit and close your eyes and listen to God;)
Yes, those things are all very helpful but since the root of depression is often an imbalance of chemicals in our brains it is important to fix that so that we can enjoy all the wonderful things you mentioned. God certainly heals, but he doesn't ALWAYS heal (Paul)...but he did give us knowledge of healing that He has made available for us to access...and then if we receive a miraculous healing that is all the better...I have received both...He ALWAYS leads me to a natural, alternative cure...and grounding is certainly one such cure...never ignore something you have been given while waiting for something you don't possess...
Sorry fren, the idea the its a chemical imbalance is one put about by big pharma to sell SSRI's, I remember when these were talked about as another wonder drug that will cure depression, they even talked about a "gold standard" of personality.
The reports that came out about the violence associated with prozac in particular were buried deep.
I do not take or recommend SSRI's so Big Pharma loses...you are barking up the wrong tree...sorry...your knowledge will be much enhanced by watching this video...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10enqcw2Qiw
My point was that the theory of chemical imbalances was invented to sell these meds, thats all.
Well...ALL our healthcare is based on Big Pharma dangerous meds and useless, high priced treatments...if the sheeple fall for all that...it is on them...
Chemical imbalances in the brain are not a theory...it is a fact, whether or not it has been used to make money...AND it was not invented...it has been around a lot longer than psychotropic drugs have existed...they only proliferated after the Rockefellers hijacked the medical establishment...so you are partially correct...
Don't believe the brain imbalance b.s As artyjulia saids it's a way to sell SSRIs. Which have a high rate of causing suicide....go figure 🤦
I'm more inclined to think the guy who states the stomach is the second brain is on more legit track.
I don't have a stomach due to cancer. A shitload has changed for me. Many things the science claims is hippocampus/ brain related. I didn't lose my brain.
I also noticed many other behaviours other people have can be fixed if their stomach is fixed.
We can't have people know they can fix themselves now. Hence the brain is a good cover
I take magnesium every day I feel pretty upbeat most of the time.
I also am on a carnivore diet. There are many people on YouTube, drs included who claim the diet cures depression.
In fact, look at Jordan Peterson video where he talks about it curing his depression.
Plus I have abs again!
I did a month of it. I had trouble sleeping. Might have been lack of fat, or I wasn't adapted yet.
its cause you are starting to have excess energy as well.
Interesting...perhaps it is like a detox...some have said the carnivore diet does similar things as fasting in terms of detoxing...so maybe you just needed to push through to get to the feel good part....
I have heard VERY good things about the carnivore diet...that is not something I have researched, but I am impressed with the testimonies...great success on your "abs"...I exercise regularly and that really helps with depression also...and so many other things...my instructor always says "muscle is the organ of longevity"...and we are all seniors...she is very fit, thin and is in great shape, so I have a great example...but consistent exercise has SO MANY benefits...and I am talking about cardio and weights...in fact...the entire gym is free for seniors on Medicare...what a blessing...
Have a look into Magnesium L Threonate. Its the only form of mag supplement that passes through the blood brain barrier. I usually take that an hour before bed to help me fall asleep. Magnesium Chloride, usually found in "magnesium oils" and absorbs through the skin is the most bioavailable version, but that seems to help the most with leg cramps.
Yes...Magnesium L Threonate is a very good brain related magnesium...I believe it is also the most expensive...that is why sometimes people buy it in blends...glad it works for sleeping. Magnesium is just SO useful...
I mentioned elsewhere that the magnesium oil spray also helps with migraines...I want to find the spray in a quantity larger than a spray bottle so I can refill...
I think that form is 100% snake oil
I recommend two books The Mood CureBook by Julia Ross Depression Free Naturally by Joan Matthews Larson
The brain is complex. These books have excellent suggestions for natural supplements and amino acids to get the brain back in balance. Magnesium is part of the picture.
Thank you for these suggestions...have spent a lifetime fixing depression in myself and others...it is complex to say the least, but cures are out there and stability is something that is achievable...God truly has given us everything that we need...I always recommend a good B complex (100-150mg. profile of most of them, with others listed in mcg.) as they work with the nervous system...
But is it the brain? Is this another section of science barking up the wrong tree? I have a degree in psychology I've lost my stomach due to cancer And I'm more included to believe the guy who mentions the stomach is the second brain is closer on track then the garbage uni teaches.
My local gym manager swears by this book: The Magnesium Miracle, by Carolyn Dean, M.D. She writes about sooo many symptoms that are caused by lack of magnesium. The gym manager ticked off a laundry list of stuff that was wrong with him until he read this book and started taking magnesium, and he was "cured" of all of it (over months of usage), but says he does have to continue taking the magnesium. It's a thick book, and I'm only about 1/5th into it.
There is a form of magnesium that is more absorbable, which the book talks about (and the product was also developed by the author). Having the gym manager swear by it was all I needed to hear. It's called ReMag (highly absorbed, non-laxative liquid available on amazon and I'm guessing the author probably has a website you could buy from as well).
Thank you so much for the book suggestion and for the product suggestion...personal testimonies of success are the best...
I read the book, "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy" by Dr. Mark Sircus, which started me on my understanding of the importance of magnesium to the body...
I personally go for Dead See salt.
Salt is really quite underrated...that is probably why they tell us to go salt free...whatever the medical establishment says...do the opposite...
Except don't use refined salt. Go for the good stuff
Absolutely...learn the difference...
Its great for restless leg syndrome and also as a topical rub for arthritis.
Have you tried a good quality CBD for your Blue Days?
I have not...but my husband used it in his Tippens protocol for prostate cancer and my daughter and her family have utilized CBD oil...I truly have so many successful things to utilize for depression that I have not felt the need to expand my repertoire...my understanding is that these are very useful for many different disorders...there were some excellent posts on X about CBD oil that I need to get around to posting...have you had some good experience with this?
I use magnesium oil (magnesium chloride dissolved in water) as a spray deodorant.
So many uses...I really like the magnesium oil spray...it is also useful for migraine headaches...I have never tried it as a deodorant...so thanks for the suggestion...
My wife and I use a magnesium complex liquid form (drops). Raspberry flavored and supposedly organic. The complex has potassium, Vit. B6, C, D3 and K2. The brand we use is Mulittea.
I never heard of this but I am glad you found something that works...
My daughter-in-law is an oby-gyn and she suggested the complex. It's also fairly cheap.
We have some kind of tang powder makes a drink.
Natural Calm Magnesium drink? I like the sweet lemon flavor the best.
That’s the one
Thank goodness it isn't Tang...we grew up on that...
All the vitamin C you need cold or warm! Yeah we did too
Best thing for depression is Vitamin D3 at 50,000 iu taken once every day for 5 days in a row then back off to once or twice a week.
I think Vitamin D is one of the most important nutrients to take...every cell in our body has a Vitamin D receptor...be sure to take Vitamin K along with this so that your calcium ends up in your bones and not your blood vessels...I take Super K from Life Extension...
I take 45 mg of K a day. Yep, milligrams. Not micrograms.
Add zinc, probiotics, leafy greens.
Gut health is the bigger key. The gut produces the chemicals the brain needs. Dopamine, serotonin, etc...
Absolutely...that is our 2nd brain...when you improve gut health you improve brain health and vice versa...so many studies bear that out...
Bingo. I picked up Zinc from those Drs that streamed live in DC 2020ish time frame. At the very end of the video a Dr told the person to take more zinc "Which is also the cure for depression".
Gary Brecka: Talks about health, gut, and meth... ylation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10enqcw2Qiw
Thank you I have watched the video and I am so glad that you shared this. My daughter was diagnosed as having the MTHFR gene deficiency and truthfully I wish I had known about this years ago. I love the completeness of what he has shared...many things I knew...we have all corrected our Vitamin D deficiency with great success and benefit. We all take zinc and NAC since covid with much success also. One daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease at 19 and we of course have corrected that...however this seems to be the missing, underlying link to many of the negative conditions that our family has dealt with. I use alternative treatments so I have been able to improve many of the health issues, but I can see that I am still missing the root cause...so I am very grateful for this information. Dr. Brecka is so knowledgeable...it is quite refreshing to hear what he has to say...
My sister was schizophrenic and we treated her in 1976 with orthomolecular psychiatry (mega doses of B3) that was very effective...per the research of Dr. Abram Hoffer. He identified that there were high amounts of adrenochrome in the body of schizophrenics, but could not identify why, however, found the high dose B3 was effective in mediating this condition...she never flipped out again, after flipping out twice in one year. He maintained a successful clinic in New York that helped many people to overcome medical conditions with megavitamin therapy.
Dr. William Walsh has continued the work of Abram Hoffer and they have come upon the methylation anomalies...he treats people at the Walsh Research Institute in Illinois and has written the book Nutrient Power...that has been life saving for many people. Our entire family needs to be tested for the MTHFR deficiency, as we have dealt with depression, Bi-Polar, ADHD, PTSD and alcoholism...and believe me we are just a normal family...and I think this is a good place to start to be able to get at the root issue of these things that have impacted our lives...with rare exception we have been able to get through life with the many alternate therapies that have been beneficial in treating the symptoms of what is most likely MTHFR anomalies...thank you for sharing what is very likely the root cause of depression...knowledge is power, after all...
Have you thought about posting that link so that others could learn the importance of the MTHFR gene...about 45% per cent of the population has this...thanks again for sharing...
Actually, you should take your comment here and post it. That is a lot of good info you have.
I have been looking at ADHD my self. The drugs for ADHD cause higher blood pressure which can lead to glaucoma over time. I noticed this all relates back to meth. People even take Methylene Blue for this. Then finally I stumbled on Gary Brecka.
Thank you so much.
I already posted the video on X...but I really don't have many followers...but there was a good discussion there about MTHFR so maybe someone will pick it up that has a better following...people on GAW don't like to listen to long videos very much...the quick blurbs are the most popular...I haven't seen any information previously posted on MTHFR so maybe I will try to find some introductory info and then post the video within the post as optional material...I like for people to learn important, impactful things and i truly believe this is one of them...
I have Methylene Blue but haven't used it yet...you can only keep track of so many new things or therapies...although it appears really easy to take...also have a book that I didn't finish reading...a day late and a dollar short often...here is Dr. Berg on Methylene Blue...interesting it mentions depression...
https://www.drberg.com/blog/fascinating-health-benefits-of-methylene-blue
That was cool. It seems the more natural you can get the gut and methylation working the better.
Raisins are what I snack on. https://www.myfooddata.com/articles/high-magnesium-fruits.php#magnesium-rich-fruits
Thanks for the link...I eat raisins also...and prunes...my favorite dried fruit besides pineapple...I am glad to know this...I actually have a dehydrator and it is so easy to dehydrate...need to utilize it...
I binge eat them watching tv. I don’t binge on prunes, but I love dried cranberries too! There are conflicts in opinion how much magnesium people need. Can we trust the Required Daily Amount or like other sites stress a much larger amount of magnesium in the powered form. Also, focus on a faith practice. Study & understand the doctrines of a faith, some can actually be unhealthy. Important to cultivate faith in a life affirming doctrine. If you have a faith, honestly reflect upon your practice of it.
Never trust the RDA...it is government...and faith is ESSENTIAL...
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
I am currently being challenged to always trust God in all things...it is harder than it seems...
Yes it is!
It's nice that you can miss taking your magnesium and not have to worry about compulsively grabbing a gun and going pew pew into a crowd.
Absolutely...
Thanks I’ll check it out
Are you in Hawaii yet???
No. Not YET!
I’ll text you when I leave. 🥰
Okay...just knew you were going...hope all is well...
Also if you have body odour it's a sign of low mag.
I use mag spray.Forgot of late......noticed of late I need to get back to it
That is one thing I don't have...I have some natural deodorant...but don't use...will probably last me the rest of my life...I thought it was because I was getting older, but it very likely is because I am not deficient in magnesium...interesting to know...
Natural deodorant didn't seem to work for me.
It was only after using magnesium spray for ages that someone then told me "did you know".
Have noticed since no deodorant needed. Even in summer heat
Research Magnesium Oil.
Article has zero mention of chronically destroyed circadian rhythms and living in junk light environments. The #1 cause of depression and other mental disorders.
Magnesium is not going to work as expected without mitochondrial water production, and it is chronic and consistent exposure to full spectrum sunlight that creates mitochondrial water. Red light specifically creates water at cytochrome c oxidase to support Mg function. Magnesium is a hydrophilic cation. If your colony of mitochondria is not making water from oxidative phosphorilation in a tissue, Mg2+ supps won't make up that gap. Biophysics is more fundamental than biochemistry. Taking magnesium but staying out of the sun is pissing in the wind. The magnesium bros are ignorant of the physics of light frequencies and mitochondrial function, and too busy selling books and supplements to look into it. It seems to be easier and more profitable to simply convince people the key to health is buying things to put into your body, instead of educating people on what environment you ought to put your body into.
The whole article leads to "buy my product".
Well...who stays out of the sun? I used to because I was allergic to the sun, but I don't anymore and I do not know anyone that doesn't enjoy the outdoors. I think the success of utilizing magnesium supplements speaks for itself. If it requires mitochondrial water production to be utilized, then people must be getting exposure to full spectrum sunlight. There is also red light therapy that is very useful and can be used, but sunlight is cheaper...I never wear sunglasses so my eyes get maximum sun exposure where the sunlight is utilized by the body.
Also, magnesium can be utilized homeopathically in BioPlasma, 12 cell salts, or in the different homeopathic formulations. If magnesium is required by the body then the body must be able to acquire and utilize magnesium...I think the testimonies to the efficacy of that is proven over and over....I personally don't waste my time or money on things that don't work. One thing you learn when you do self care is how to read and understand your body...
Depression and mental disorders have existed long before junk light environments were a thing bu it does contribute...
Oxide because it causes diarrhea and diarrhea can be funny. Laughter cures depression.
