In the US :) - where I live now isn't terribly important apart from that. I have lived a good many years in the Bay Area, CA and have moved away now. This is beside the point though. My experience isn't unique in my industry at all (telecom) and through mergers and company split-ups I have worked with people from many countries and backgrounds - we talk quite a bit about working with people from different countries. Bulgaria and India have the "cheapest" labor but it comes at the cost of high-turnover and less broad-background for technical skills. However, there are some top-notch people that rise to the top from those countries for sure. Admittedly they also are the ones trying to move out to the US or even upgrading quite a bit from say Bulgaria to Czech Republic. Regardless, there are excellent people in all countries I have found. Being a global tier one network provider we actually (as do most global companies) also need to think about geo-redundancy for almost all aspects - not just availability but security. Have to think about network compromises and such and one aspect is keeping, nut just systems, but talent spread pretty evenly globally. I have specifically hired folks from US, EU, India, etc. based on this aspect alone. There's a good old book that explains the tech industry in general quite nicely... "The World is Flat" - although a bit dated now as it was put out at the beginning of VPN and work-from anywhere employment maybe 20 years ago.

I work with folks from India for many many years in tech field... apart from never wanting to see "do the needful" in a message ever again most I find are excellent people when it comes down to it. But then again, developers require a bit of knowledge and higher thinking to succeed - and just like here, some h1-b visa people are better than others. My main thought through it all has simply been "well, this is a good distraction tactic but no way this divides MAGA in the end.

Personally any I interacted with in person are borderline dumb, smiling idiots with poor English comprehension. They have infested Irish health care using fake credentials. We are now seeing them infest retail jobs. Nothing they do is “specialised” that could not be done by European workers.
Also, they get relocation “bonuses” and sponsored public housing. Irish or European workers are not “eligible” for these economic benefits.

In the US :) - where I live now isn't terribly important apart from that. I have lived a good many years in the Bay Area, CA and have moved away now. This is beside the point though. My experience isn't unique in my industry at all (telecom) and through mergers and company split-ups I have worked with people from many countries and backgrounds - we talk quite a bit about working with people from different countries. Bulgaria and India have the "cheapest" labor but it comes at the cost of high-turnover and less broad-background for technical skills. However, there are some top-notch people that rise to the top from those countries for sure. Admittedly they also are the ones trying to move out to the US or even upgrading quite a bit from say Bulgaria to Czech Republic. Regardless, there are excellent people in all countries I have found. Being a global tier one network provider we actually (as do most global companies) also need to think about geo-redundancy for almost all aspects - not just availability but security. Have to think about network compromises and such and one aspect is keeping, nut just systems, but talent spread pretty evenly globally. I have specifically hired folks from US, EU, India, etc. based on this aspect alone. There's a good old book that explains the tech industry in general quite nicely... "The World is Flat" - although a bit dated now as it was put out at the beginning of VPN and work-from anywhere employment maybe 20 years ago.

So $12 X 8 + $18 X 4=$168.00 I was 18 years old and that was “good money”. All I had to do was slide stacks of bags into a box on the conveyor belt and then flip a case and replace it once filled at the end. Point is: that was unskilled labor, monotonous AF, stinky bc of the plastic but worth it because of the pay. So to me your $9 per hour, ($14 for skilled labor) to work for a contractor in 1995 in AZ would have been a huge NO from me. But yea, that factory job packing Hefty garbage bags was good money, an enviable job, actually, so good it no longer exists in the US—most likely has moved to ChYna.

I’m unconcerned about his public stance on H1Bs. His honest opinion or not (who knows in the fog of a psywar?), I think he’s clearly on the Q team. I would hope that the deportation happens quickly of ALL illegal aliens inside the US. Also, we should abolish the H1B program, and force industries to use American citizens only. Then we should eliminate ALL immigration totally for at least a generation in order to get our nation back on solid footing through assimilation of our culture. English should be the only language.
