It would appear that They covertly inserted a bit of false (or classified) data in with the expose- in order to discredit the entire thing, but also to frame those at the symposium as computer hackers on steroids- who are also probably in-league with the January 6th'er 'terrorists.'
Data was altered, and the "stuff" that was added was classified. Meaning, if they released that they would be charged with releasing classified info.

They would have to remove the data from Mike, make their alterations, then place it back into Mike's possession.
They also have to make sure that their altered copy is the only copy Mike has. Otherwise Mike could just toss out their altered copy and release his original copy.

They seemed real shaken to be talking about stuff for a minute. All the news stations left and came back like 20 minutes later as if they knew they would have been covering something illegal or something.

Yeah, this is exactly the problem with this whole story Mike is telling. It seems to break down upon this point, there's no way to fraudulently insert data that Mike had original control over without cutting him out completely and secretly. I don't think they could realistically do that. I'm not sure this whole story passes the sniff test, even if I want the corrupted election information to come out and change things.
One of the guys on the red team, Joshua Merritt (spyder) was there to steal data and probably insert a poison pill. Mike has a recording of a phone call Joshua made to a reporter lying about the whole symposium.
Mike discovered this guys treachery and cut access to the data so he never got access to the pcaps and kicked him out. The guy still stole data and violated his NDA. He is probably connected to the physical attack on Mike during the symposium.

It sounds like they anticipated a poison pill and safeguarded the important stuff. Going through the files of the election machine was all done remotely via virtual machines and screensharing which I guess was considered safe enough to run with.
They must have had separate documents free from the tampering of the clowns in action.

This makes no sense at all. Mike Lindell and his team are under no restrictions related to the release of classified data. They don't have any security clearances. They haven't signed any NDA's with the government (that we know of). The guilty party would be the people or person who gave the data to them. This is why journalists can't be held accountable for publishing classified data that was leaked to them. On top of that, if the data can now never be released what good is it? It has to get to lawyers and State Senators so that it can go in front of a Judge. It sounds to me like they freaked out over a perceived threat and backed off even though they have a perfectly legal right to release the data. Without that PCAP data as evidence that's going to hurt their case.
