I identify as a Catholic even though I don't respect the Vatican. I'm not aware of any fellow Catholics who respect the false pope.

That's a shame. I would have expected the fake pope's claims that puppies go to heaven would have raised some red flags for them. It did for me because then I wondered if my favorite pots and pans would be waiting for me in heaven too. /s

EDIT: I would love it if dogs go to heaven. Nobody knows true love unless they've owned a dog.

Just as there are reports of people seeing loved ones say goodbye (often times after the person died and the receiver of the goodbye had no idea about the death) many report similar things with their dogs.

Dogs have the breath of life and certainly know love. Who knows where they go after death?

I make two points, maybe three: (1) Man and woman were expelled from Eden. The animals were not. (2) It would not be heaven without animals. We all know that in our hearts. (3) That we can interact with, communicate with, and share love with animals speaks to the divine spark given us by God, that we may also give it to his creatures.

The “do animals go to heaven” discussion sure is a great way to divert attention away from the foundation.

If Christians do believe the Bible is the Word of God, then that’s where one should start.

But since there isn’t a reference to this debate (of which I know of), then here comes the OPINION of man… the tendency to philosophize on what could be.

I’d posit a simpler question for the philosophers out there…

“Why do Animals go to Hell?” 😉

I just had the vision of introducing Harry the dog (died in 2016) to Cooper the dog (my childhood pet) so they can play together. Max (the old cat from my first apartment who'd come in through my balcony window to say hello each day and was schizophrenic so if he became too happy then his brain would fritz and he'd attack which was funny to watch when strangers would pet him as he sat outside the front of the apartments because he seemed cute and friendly) and Peppers the cat might be there too, but it's difficult to know if they loved me or just tolerated me for my company and food.

Yep, lots of liberal "Catholics". Biden, Piglosi, etc. I remember years ago meeting a Franciscan Monk whose mission was to travel between churches giving weekend retreats and teaching the meaning of the Mass. He was distraught to see all the gay priests, the changing litergy, the destruction of all things holy. He told me that the devil was in the church. Shortly after he told me this he came down with a medical condition that destroyed his ability to speak. Coincidence? I think not.

I think a slightly more nuanced adjustment helps …

The Catholic Church, as in the Vatican, is not THE Church.

It is an Organization … a Corporation, and in it’s current form, it’s a Nation State, with it’s own Central Bank and Political Structure masquerading as Holy Men.

What you’re saying is you do not respect the ‘Vatican Corporation’ .. and even pre-Vatican II, it wasn’t as rosy as we think it was.

I completely agree. Notice how they changed stuff after Vatican II that they didn't have to change (priest facing parish, all prayers in English and dumbed down, etc.) but did nothing when it came to the things that really mattered like allowing priests to marry. My father had a great idea, priests should be chaste until the age of 33, the age Christ died. Then afterward allow them to marry like normal people. That would have reduced the number of gays and increased the number of normal men that had first hand experience with issues of marriage, raising children, etc. making them more relatable to the congregation.

Why not just identify as Christian...simpler and you can ditch the devilish symbolism.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– SuzukiSV650 3 points 4 years ago +3 / -0

For me, it's complicated because I respect the Catholic Church as the church that Jesus Christ created and much of their ceremony correctly honors the requirements of the New Testament.

However, I also identify as a Red Letter Christian because I am NOT a Muslim and I don't believe our scripture is the perfect, verbatim word of God.

I believe our scripture was written by fallible humans and should be respected and understood in terms of human culture and context.

I'm less worried about "simpler" and more concerned with being honest.

That was a good question and thank you for it.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– ThePowerOfPrayer 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

I'd argue none of their ceremony honors the requirements of the New Testament. Even their baptisms are done by sprinkling rather than immersion and they are performed on infants who have no say in the matter.

Great example is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, Queen of Heaven.

First off, nowhere in the Bible does it say Mary was assumed into heaven.

Secondly, the Bible has nothing but bad things to say about the "queen of heaven."

Thirdly, crowning a statue of "Mary" with roses is worshipping a graven image. Now I know Catholics claim there's a difference between "worship" and "veneration", but the only difference is semantics.

Exodus 20:4

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

And I understand points 2 and 3 are based on the Old Testament, but in the New Testament, Yashua said the following-

Matthew 5:18

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

There was no New Testament when he said this. The law = the Torah.

2 Corinthians 6:17

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

The Roman Catholic Church did the opposite of this instruction. They incorporated pagan symbolism and rituals into Christianity, including the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter equinoxes. The feast days of the gods and goddesses were replaced by feast days of the saints.

Protestants banned the celebration of Christmas at one point, but they now have done the same thing the Catholics have in many aspects. A Christian child should never be taught lies about Santa Claus or the Easter bunny...

Christmas trees are pagan symbols as well.

Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:46-48

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Hebrews 6:1-3

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

3 And this will we do, if God permit.

Baptism is still a thing.

Lots of great points here. Over the centuries, we see many instances of syncretism happen within the churches.

I think there is a debate or potential path of discernment on how should Christianity, and to keep it simple, assume this is back in the day of the Apostles… how should Christianity be adopted into a far away culture beyond the Middle East and Eurasia? Does it ‘replace’ the culture? Or maybe there is room for both, but where idol worship, false gods, are rooted out, etc.

IMO, Jesus’s teaching is actually quite simple… it goes to the very heart of the matter, of any matter. Then from there we, as humans, will then have to ‘live it out’ (obviously not easy).

And I find there seems to be a fine line between idolatry and ‘pure’ worship.

I would argue that many Christians today of all denominations idolize ‘The Bible’, or a Symbol / Object .. unintentionally. It spirals into debates and discussion on the ‘letter’ as opposed to the Message.

As for me, it’s simple… who do you follow? Jesus OR (fill in XYZ).

The original design of Pope Francis pectoral cross, drawn by Antonio Vedele, who passed away in 1997, was actually **made by a small artisan master craftsmen **named Guiseppe Albrizzi of Pavia, Italy. Albrizzi states "The cross was made by me, but it was drawn by my teacher, Antonio Veldele, for whom I worked until 1978. I am grateful for everything he taught me, the teacher who created the cross of Pope Francis." (Source: UPA Federimpresa)."

I would argue that adoption of the crucifix was more troubling and a good indication of how they wanted to limit the true value of what Jesus did here through his words, his acts, and the Resurrection.

The murder of Jesus Christ is one small aspect of his existence here, and yes while important and key to the redemption of mankind, the crucifix has always looked more like a celebration of that act from the spiritual and genetic ancestors of the perpetrators of that murder.

The Catholic church has been compromised for the vast majority of its history.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– S11houette 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Of course the church is compromised. One of the apostles played a part in Christ's death. All of humanity is compromised. Despite this, Christ still decided to work through man.

He didn't write a book. He wrote his law into the hearts of twelve men and sent them forth. They in turn imitated him and wrote his law into others and sent them forth.

it's a mystery to me why he decided to work this way. I am fearful for what men like Bergoglio can do. I cannot deny thought that that is what he decided to do. I cannot deny that no matter what Bergoglio does it can not exceed the crime which Judas committed. Christ knew what he was doing then and he knows what he is doing now.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– S11houette 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

It is no celebration of murder.

John 10:18

Chirst chose to lay down his life.

Romans 5:7

1 John 3:16

We ought to imitate his love.

This is what comes to the mind of a Catholic when he sees the cross. "As I loved so must you".

With regard to the rainbow and Christianity please re-read Genesis 9 keeping in mind the context of the situation. so I guess read Genesis 5-9 with 9 being key to the rainbow. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%205&version=NIV https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+9&version=NIV

What does the rainbow represent? What made God decide to wipe the slate clean with a flood? Why is it significant that homosexuals have chosen the rainbow to represent themselves in this context?

Queers waving the rainbow in God's face is a silly way to taunt him into action. I probably have a different view of God and Satan's relationship based off their interactions in the first two chapters of JOB https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Job+1&version=NIV https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Job%202&version=NIV

Forget that Job is the name of the man and look at how Satan and God interact here. It is as if the purpose of our life on earth right now is just a selection process for the next life and it is Satan's job to weed out the undeserving applicants like Satan is the H.R. department. The interactions between Satan and God here feel a lot like a morning meeting to me.

Waving the rainbow flag in this context is rejecting God and taunting him, although most who are doing this do not understand the context. This brings us back to the knowledge of good and evil and the question of if ignorance is an excuse which I believe it may be as all the way into revelation 9:21 with all that prophecy obviously happening it still notes that the people will not repent. They still have the option of repenting that late in the game. I believe it is set up this way for the ones who make the cut to not be salty about their friends and relatives and such being left out, but I am just a foolish man so please come to your own conclusions based on your study of the texts.

How naive does one have to be to not consider that all religions are man-made constructs that have been corrupted by Satan's minions over the millennia?

Half of the doctrine people follow isn't even biblical and that includes all divisions (denominations). Many, many people are in for the shock of their existence when they have to face the Lord.

All pope Francis is is unapologetic. Hes not into secrecy, obviously, but it's the subtle deceivers that are the most dangerous.

Same here. I noticed discrepancies, some just flat out erroneous along with a bunch of questions that couldn't get answered. I really didn't know Jack about who God really is and how He operates until years after I left religion. He is, in many ways, vastly contrary to what nominal Christianity teaches.

When God said Gathering of the saints he wasn't talking about religion. He was speaking fellowship. A church is wherever 3 or more are gathered in His name. Doesn't require a priest be present or a pastor. Just believers. Churchianity waste time and generally are stupid about spiritual matters and the power of the holy spirit gift within the born again ones.

The very worst doctrinal errors of the catholic church were introduced between 320 - 900 AD, the orthodox didn't split from the cats until 1048AD. They didn't agree on which day Easter should be celebrated.

Yep, either they can't read or they can read and have chosen the wrong spirit.

…Or it’s important to understand context and apply discernment.

For example, ‘morning star’ can be in reference to both Jesus OR Lucifer.

Jesus Christ is the second Adam. Come to restore the broken fellowship.with God that Adam caused for mankind when he sinned.

Jesus Christ is also now redeemed the position of lucifer as well. Christ is seated at God own right hand in lucifers old spot. Hence he is the bright and morning star now instead of lucifsr.

The thing that makes Satan such an effective deceiver is how well he can mix truth with a lie to make it believable. That's what he did with Eve in the garden and it's what EVERY false church/teacher does. Could the Orthodox churches have more truth than other divisions? Certainly but neither have the whole unadulterated truth. That's a problem when it comes to the Lord. He never leaves his children in such ignorance, therefore they're not his regardless of how much truth they have. It's to no effect.

The pope isn't Christian, he's catholic. I guess you're unaware of the reformation.

Half of the doctrine people follow isn't even biblical

Interesting assertion. Let's see if you can remotely back it up.... What are your exact doctrinal problems with the 1689 London Baptist confession for example?

The cross was created by the Latin American Conference of Bishops – CELAM – for the World Youth Day 2019 that will take place in Panama. Supposedly – or so the CELAM pretended – each color of that cross is a symbol of a different area in Latin America and its own eco-system....It is yet another way to promote homosexuality, and particularly to encourage the WYD participants to accept this vice.... https://traditioninaction.org/RevolutionPhotos/A804-Rainbow.htm

It seems to me that if the head of the Vatican is promoting the faggotry agenda, then the Vatican is legally liable for all homosexual crimes and abuses committed by its members against others. In addition, the Vatican should be paying out punitive damages to its victims. Too many abuse cases to be an accident, and faggotism is being openly promoted from the top institutional level.

It’s so much simpler and no one even realizes. It’s in the name!!! The Vatican is named after the Goddess Vatika, who was the Etruscan queen of the underworld. Constantine, the first Catholic emperor, had a temple built on this hill, known as the Vatican Hill. A few centuries later, the papal palace was built.

The "Good Shepherd" crucifix looks creepy. Skeletal figure supposed to be Christ carrying lost sheep on his shoulders looks more like skull and crossbones. Sheep in background look like pile of skulls or slaves bowing down. Terrible artist.

If people can't see this pope as an antichrist or possibly even THE Anti-Christ, I don't know what to say.

On the contrary. Yashua said that to all of the disciples, including Peter.

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+18&version=KJV

Also, even if you believe those words were intended for Peter only because he asks Yashua a question afterwards, here's what Peter wrote-

1 Peter 1:23

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

He bound us to the word of God and not the traditions of men.

What? Who gave them to him the pope? Not in God's Word sir.

In fact if you read the Bible ykubwill see in the epistles that Peter quit and left away. Nobody knew where he went but he quit. We do know there is no biblical record of him in Rome. Paul on the other hand went to Rome and after Peter left, b3cause Peter quit, Paul was sent by God to the gentiles.

Peter was shown but he copp3d out.
