Fluoride toothpaste helped destroy my thyroid. I’m on natural desiccated thyroid replacement and we moved a year ago to a remote house with a well. I use Tom’s fluoride free toothpaste or usually baking soda

Nevermind, I looked it up.

For others who might be curious, geographic tongue is "A condition that causes harmless tongue patches resembling smooth, red islands."

That's what I love about this site, there's always something new to learn.

Yah it sucks. I quit smoking by switching to vaping and now my tongue does this. In the past too much sugar would cause it. The vape juice has no sweeteners added

Side note, I’ve heard vapinf can dry your tongue.

Whenever I eat something sugary I get really thirsty for some reason.

Diabetes. Your body's attempt to flush out sugar.

Moral: cut out ALL refined carbohydrates or die a slow and painful death.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 13 ▼
– Wtf_socialismreally 13 points 3 years ago +13 / -0

There is no difference between refined or unrefined carbohydrates when it comes to your blood levels.

It comes down to digestion and metabolism.

Refined carbohydrates tend to digest faster and therefore spike your sugar levels faster, which can aid in raising your insulin resistance.. but eating a massive amount of unrefined carbs will cause diabetes too.

Your body also isn't necessarily trying to "flush out" the sugar, either. This theory runs contrary to the function of sugars and insulin, which is to deliver everything -- good and bad -- to your cells.

Further, how you use those carbohydrates matter, not that you consume them.

If you have a heavy workout and consumed refined carbohydrates just before you started, those carbohydrates will deliver fats and protein and calories to your muscles, which repairs them and makes them stronger (and ultimately bigger).

You can do the same thing by consuming slower digesting unrefined carbohydrates further from your workout to achieve the same thing. It's not the type of carbohydrate, but how you use it.

When you aren't working out, insulin is released to store those calories, fats and proteins into fat cells, making them larger.

You're not going to die any faster by having refined carbohydrates in moderation. We are all, under every circumstance, dying a slow death.

You prolong your life by becoming physically active, learning your limits and understanding how to use your biology in your favor.

You can downvote me all you like; learning moderation is important, as is understanding the effects of carbohydrates on our body and how they are an important part of how it functions.

Even on keto, you synthesize glucose from protein for your brain via gluconeogenesis.

Your ketones burn fat, but don't do as good of a job delivering to muscle cells as insulin does.

Refined carbohydrates can be a very useful part of your diet for obtaining and maintaining strength and muscle density because timing your carbs creates the biggest gains.

The downside about baking soda / charcoal / etc. is that it does notably wear down your teeth over time. It's definitely intended to be used in a pinch, as it's more abrasive than formulated toothpaste.

Regardless of where you stand on the effects of fluoride, I would stick to companies that have made studies on how abrasive their formula is, even if you go fluoride free

Most users have dip and snuff sitting in their gums for hours every day. If a person put it in one time a day then immediately rinsed it out, like toothpaste, it probably wouldn’t be harmful in the slightest.

permalink parent save report block reply

– Cpleb 4 points 3 years ago +4 / -0

Yea dip is most def not ok. It has way more nicotine and carcinogens than cigarette and it’s sitting in the mucosa. The chemicals literally start destroying the mucosa with chronic use. It’s much easier to get mouth cancer from dip than lung cancer from smoking.

Low IQ is part of a spectrum of symptoms of chemical poisoning that includes mental health problems, behavioral problems, depression, chronic fatigue, and other problems. No city should be fluoridating water anymore. There are enough Dentists to go around.

Fluoride is better topically anyway. It was never meant for consumption, so putting it into the water was the worst thing that could have been done.

I have since learned that even applied topically on your gums that it can protect unexposed portions of your teeth.

Imagine what it could do in your more sensitive intestinal tract.

The microabrasives wear out your enamel and allow sugars and sugar alcohols to nest in your teeth, the saccharin also creates a residue and saccharin is also toxic for livers.

Toothpaste is engineered to cause dental issues. The chemicals in it also cause kidney, liver, and other issues.

It would take for ever to dig it up but there was a study long ago that basically put toothpaste right there in the same category as the rest of big pharma having started out as snake oil salesmen who bribed their way into existence just like the artificial sweetener industry has done.

And just like big pharma, the people who go to college are basing everything they know off what they are taught, which is not the truth.

The reason why this works is if you live in an area with water that has high salt content it actually helps your gums. And the salt concentrations in water are not high enough to do damage to your enamel.

A lot of young kids with braces are advised to use warm water and salt mixture to help reducing gum swelling when flossing isn't enough.

My once-in-a-few-years' trip to the dentist was pretty funny, since he clearly had an expectation of poor health when I told him how long it had been since any visit.

The cleaner, too. But the cleaning was very quick and she commented on that, then went to get the dentist earlier than they'd planned.

He took a look around and commented, "you don't drink soda, do you?" Then concluded everything was excellent and he'd see me in a few years, lol. Spouse wasn't so lucky. (Guess who's using fluoride paste and drinks soda?)

The Fluoride Deception - Full Length Documentary

British scientist Jennifer Luke published a study (Fluoride Deposition in the Aged Human Pineal Gland) which found that fluoride deposits tended to accumulate in the pineal gland and calcify it. In addition, a 450-page review on fluoride toxicity published by the National Research Council in 2006 reported that fluoride produced a range of negative side effects including, "decreased melatonin production" and "other effects on normal pineal function, which in turn could contribute to a variety of effects in humans."

the United States accounts for more than 50 percent of all the fluoridated water drinkers in the world, while the vast majority of European countries for example avoid this practice altogether.

Here’s some information for those curious about the third eye. Even if you think it’s “New Age” give it a try. You will learn it is some very important truth that has long been considered taboo in our society.

My life has been changed since I started caring for the lymphatic system, especially the pineal gland. It’s like my body now knows what to do. Everything fell into place and I am in control, both mentally and physically

The Secrets They Don’t want You to Know – How to Decalcify Your Pituitary Gland and PINEAL Gland, our 3rd Eye

https://369news.net/2018/04/29/decalcify-your-pituitary-gland-pineal-gland-our-3rd-eye/

One key scripture to look at concerning the Third Eye Pineal Glad is in Genesis 32:22-32 where Jacob wrestled with God. While Jacob was at the river Jabbok alone he wrestles with God and is left with a bruised hip and a blessing. During his struggle back and forth with God Jacob grabs hold of God and says that he will not release until he blesses him, and that’s exactly what Jacob received. After this encounter Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.” The Peniel or Pineal Gland is where each and every individual wrestles with God. It is where the battle between good and evil are fought within the the mind of each and every person. Why wouldn’t the satanist try to disconnect this?

The most reactive, electronegative and oxidizing element, fluorine (F) is the first halogen in the periodic table. Fluorine is naturally present in the Earth's crust where it is chiefly found in mineral form. Although its existence as an element was suspected in the early 19th century, it was only 100 years later that the French chemist, Henri Moissan, won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for discovering fluorine in its elemental state in 1886. In Latin, its name means flow. Fluorine easily bonds with other elements of the periodic table and consequently boasts a host of applications: polymers, refrigerants as well as lithium salts for batteries.

https://www.solvay.com/en/innovation/elements-periodic-table/fluorine

Logically, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Fluorine readily binds with sodium, potassium, aluminum, calcium and other elements.

Pineal Calcification, Melatonin Production, Aging, Associated Health Consequences and Rejuvenation of the Pineal Gland

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6017004/

When there's fluorine present in the pineal gland, it attracts calcium, which leads to calcification.

Since calcium fluoride is not water soluble, removing calcium deposits from the pineal gland AKA decalcification isn't easy and requires following certain protocols.

Increasing vitamin K2 levels by ingesting leafy green vegetables and grass-fed butter is part of the decalcification process. Fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, often contain higher levels of K2. Curcumin, which is found in turmeric, also can help remove calcium deposits. Iodine is another chemical that can help remove the calcium deposits.

You're right about sodium fluoride being water soluble, but you're wrong if you believe that means it's not a dangerous industrial byproduct.

Additionally, your body will neutralize fluorine with calcium. Calcium deposits in soft tissues leads to neurological disorders as well as increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

Clove soothes the nerves to stop the pain from a cavity but it doesn’t heal the cavity. It just stopped hurting enough for the nerve to eventually die. However rotting nerve tissue is still there and will eventually turn into a localized infection which your healthy body can contain but cannot remove on its own. If your body is weakened it could cause the infection to flare up. Chronically having diseased tissue in the body will take a toll on the body defense systems. Best to remove the dead tissue

Clove oil provides antiseptic benefit without blocking the healing process, so it is uniquely suited to this purpose. Most medical antiseptics are indiscriminate and severely hamper healing.

Same with my using Uncle Toms calcium carbonate tooth powder with oregano, rosemary, and clove essential oils. The weak spots reuptake the calcium into the enamel of the tooth over time.

Yes Flouride does remineralize cavities when they haven’t breached the dentin and if it’s small. But it’s still more porous than enamel that wasn’t affected by cavities.

Dental health and whiteness is partially determined by your genes. Fluoride is bad for you, but hydroxyapatite does the same thing without being toxic. Some big toothpaste company bought the rights to hydroxyapatite and ended its use, but you can find it on Amazon from Japan. APA guard is the brand I use. There’s even an APA kids that is safe for them to swallow.

I'd make sure strawberries and anything with sugar or starch is just cleaned off the teeth asap after eating.

Dentists now say that we should wait at least 15 minutes before brushing after eating acidic foods like strawberries. They say the acid softens up tooth enamel and brushing when your tooth enamel is soft can damage it permanently.

Coconut oil breaks down into three anti microbial acids, two of which are found in breast milk. You don’t need factory shit to clean your teeth. Zero cavities, I hardly brush. I floss plenty though.

I think it's because of a bullshit FDA rule if I'm remembering correctly. Toothpaste is allowed to have fluoride as an active ingredient without FDA approval, so it's cheap to put a new fluoride toothpaste on the market. Other active ingredients need FDA approval though so no company bothers Edit: I was remembering incorrectly

I just don't use toothpaste, I think it's an unnecessary addition. A wet brush alone followed up with flossing does the job of removing the plaque stuck to your teeth. I follow up with a fluoride free mouthwash but I imagine that isn't necessary either. And you won't have any issues with your teeth using regular toothpaste, the concern is what it might do to other parts of your body

It really depends on someones Cavity risk, which depends on genetics (ie enamel thickness amongst others), diet, habits (dental hygiene) and medications (lots of antidepressant dry out your mouth for ex)

But I would agree if you’re eating healthy and flossing/wet brushing daily, everything else is superfluous

Tom's of Maine is a popular fluoride free toothpaste. Burt's Bees also has one. And some people even use Dr. Bronner's liquid soap to brush their teeth. The peppermint and tea tree oil varieties are the most popular for that.

Edited to add; writing that reply reminded me that I wanted to start using Dr. Bronner's soap again, so I went to their website to order. And I see that they're making their own toothpaste now. They have peppermint, spearmint, cinnamon and anise flavors. I think I'll buy a tube and see how it is. Because I was never a huge fan of using soap to brush my teeth. It was nice only having to pack one bottle of soap when backpacking, though. Shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, laundry detergent, and all purpose cleaner all in one bottle.

First of all I must say my best results have come from flossing more throughout the day. Flossing is really more important than brushing. It makes the biggest difference. Investing in a water pik is also a good idea and using water with a neutral PH or slightly basic.

Also I have seen better results with baking soda. And the benefit of baking soda is that it whitens teeth. Use an electric tooth brush to see faster results but it can be done with a basic brush too.

Anyways If I remember correctly flourite has a hardness that is a bit lower than apatite but close in approximation. So flourite helps fill the gaps and fortify apatite but it isn't necessary if you do not have thin enamel and healthy teeth.

Excess sugar is the #1 cause of inflammation of gums and damage to enamel. Cut excess sugar and your blood pressure goes down and inflammation of gums also goes down.

The rest that you have to do is flossing and brushing.

As for pulling with coconut oil that works too combined with brushing

Genetics does impact what results you will have along with diet.

My personal testimony is that I had extremely poor brushing practices as a child, to the point where I’d go weeks without brushing because I didn’t care. Because of that I have many fillings and very sensitive teeth overall.

As an adult I feel otherwise. I’ve been using a Sonicare for 11+ years and I know it’s made a difference. The other thing that has helped immensely is the use of a toothpaste that actually kills the bacteria in your mouth. I use a toothpaste that contains clove, lemon, and other botanicals that are known to help oral health. Because of a single root canal (basically taking all the nerves and leaving a “dead tooth” 😑) I utilize wintergreen essential oil, it is a known antiseptic and can penetrate the gums to reach any deep bacteria.

I’ve had zero oral issues for 7-8+ years and it’s been a blessing.

The ADA (American Dentist Association), and any product endorsed/approved by it should be avoided at all costs. ADA is there to keep dentists in business, not save your teeth.

My homemade toothpaste includes the following:

Turmeric powder Dr Bronner's peppermint soap Bit of organic baking soda Bit of charcoal Drop of peppermint/your choice of essential oil for flavor & a tablespoon of organic coconut oil...

Haven't been to the dentist in 20 years, and yes, periodic oil pulling with unrefined coconut oil helps. Get's the crap thats stuck underneath your teeth and gums.

Hope this helps someone.

The question is, how much fluorine do you absorb into your body (not your teeth), when you brush with a fluoride toothpaste and do not swallow any, including a very thorough rinsing and spitting after brushing? Fluoride is CLEARLY shown to be an effective tooth decay preventer, so I think the real question is, do the benefits of the fluoride on your teeth, through brushing with a fluoride toothpaste, outweigh what would seem to be an EXTREAMLY small risk of fluoride on the rest of your body?

Yet another thing I thought was a crazy theory until I looked into it. A civilization capable of building the pyramids would also know how to mill grain with a millstone.

Brushing and flossing without toothpaste removes the plaque without disrupting the bacterial makeup of your mouth. That's an interesting train of thought though. I wonder if killing 99.9% of bacteria in the mouth causes cavities to form even faster in the long term due to a lack of good bacteria to stop the exponential growth of plaque forming bacteria the next time you eat carbs

Are you sure it’s not “abrasive”? Is baking soda abrasive? I believe baking soda is doing that. I could be wrong on my assumption.

permalink parent save report block reply

No it isn't made from petroleum... I mean it can be just because chemistry is amazing, but in industry they use another process. It could be made alongside any plant oil or tallow processing.

The problem is that it is such a simple, and small, molecule that it could be doing a whole lot of things and is extremely hard to track. That makes it suspicious to me, but that is all I got. It is generally categorized as harmless, but to me that just means there are no obvious short term effects. Long term effects are hard to discern.

Toothpowder is calcium carbonate with essential oils with natural antibiotic properties and I'll never go back to the goo toothpaste. Powder does a much better job cleaning your teeth and restoring the enamel. It's also naturally a whitener.
