The IAEA, international atomic energy agency, is supposedly a neutral body, so they should have been able to choose the safest route, not the “politically correct” route. Why would Zelinsky force the Military into that bloodbath? We do know because he’s a psychopath. Russia rules the skies and they were sitting ducks on open water.
Because these people drink their own Kool-Aid. They tell the world that the Russians are incompetent soldiers, that they're weak, demoralized, and don't want to fight. They're easy to roll over. Just look at the (fabricated) casualty numbers! Ukraine's "punching above its weight."
Obviously, the Russian army is far more capable than that. They were fighting with restraint early on since Putin was trying to protect ethnically Russian civilians. He still is, but he's fired a lot of generals who had given bad advice, and we also know many of the civilians are smart enough to have gotten well away from the fighting. There's much less risk of civilian casualties, so Putin can use its artillery and tank advantage. So, now we see the Russians destroying any military vehicle that moves, picking off reinforcements, and supplies coming in from the US and NATO, and fighting much more capably. Meanwhile, Russia's consolidating its gains, taking care of the civilians with high priority to prevent insurgency and position himself to annex the territory.
But Zelensky, and more importantly, the politicians funding him still believe the lies, so he's now getting billions to send his country's men to the slaughter.

Funny enough that part of history is not often taught, probably because it rightly credits Russia with ending the Soviet madness. Sure American pressure weakened it, but without action by the Russians, who at this point were utterly sick of the hellhole of communism, the Soviet Union might well still be around.

But with all the initialized names used nowadays, I can no longer understand a lot of posts, and spend more time trying to figure out the abbreviation than absorbing the article. Of course, common ones are easy, but a courtesy for easy absorption of a statement would be to spell out the name first with the abbreviation following, and then use the abbreviation in the remainder of the statement. Thanks from an old guy.
I will second the motion. My career was filled with acronyms, and it even got to the absurdity that a single acronym would stand for over a dozen separate meanings. So the etiquette is to unwrap the acronym the first time it is used, if it is used more than once (and not to use it, except parenthetically, if it is used only once).

What I knew before reading the OP was: Russia took control of the nuclear plant from Ukr and cut power to the plant itself to lessen chance of catastrophe in case Ukr gets a bomb through Russian defenses. Russian forces expecting the nuclear agency to arrive any day to inspect the safety of shutdown and confirm status to the world of its condition.
Todays post says that Boris sent soldiers 'with' the nuclear delegation perhaps to sabotage or 'trojan horse' the power plant? Did Boris want to control the plant (an international emergency') to get power for UK with an 'emergency? Or destroy the viability of the plant going forward?
My understanding was that the plant was operating and (!) providing power to Ukraine, under Russian control and supervision. The Ukrainian shelling disabled 3 of the 4 power lines to Ukraine, so the Russians closed them all down and Ukraine is getting no power from the plant, which is a huge plant. Oopsie! I surmise that power is still being provided to the Donbass and liberated areas.
Now that the last-ditch attempt has failed, the IAEA people will be in a position to testify to the truth of the situation. Potential big propaganda fail for Zelensky and Boris. I would like to see a massive cry of "WTF!" from the Western observers.

I think the most likely scenario is that they were to cause a major nuclear “incident” to justify formally declaring war on Russia.
Seems like Boris/Ukraine wanted to seize control of the nuke plant from the Russians, and then use terrorism to threaten a nuke catastrophe on the people of Crimea, putting pressure on Russia to exit the area.
But Russia had it all figured out before the plan could be carried out, and the Ukrainians ended up dead, instead.
If so ... the Ukrainians just showed not only how incompetent they are ("Bay of Pigs" level of incompetence), but also how evil they are.
