It's pretty funny if you do a simple analysis of the cost of produce if picked by migrants (legal or illegal), vs picked by U.S. citizens. Using cantaloupes as an example, to pay legal U.S. citizens to pick them at $20/hr, it would only increase the cost of each melon about 5-cents! You can't tell me there aren't plenty of people who would be willing to pick melons for $20/hr, IF, they weren't getting unemployment checks, food stamps, or other government handouts. There is also a wide misconception that migrant workers only make a few dollars per hour; the actual going rate is $15-$20/hr!

The costs will be higher than you estimate. Which is fine, btw. IMO.
The point is that it wouldn't take a significant increase in the salary rate, which could be accommodated by minimally higher unit cost of the produce.
And my point which is THE point if this subject, is that in that market reality from the employers pov the wage increase is the minor relevant factor to hiring legal workers. I mean, unless you are suggesting somehow putting legal americans in a situation with no labor protections for some reason. Which would be gross.

when I am roaming the state doing work I will go to lots of antique stores. One of them has a picture of Trump standing next to an alien as this one. It is rather large and framed very nicely. I have been wanting to purchase it but it has also be there for years now. I don't want to buy it at the same time because that antique store is located close to a rather large liberal area.
