Why me Lord what have I ever done
To deserve even one of the pleasures I've known
Tell me, Lord, what did I ever do
That was worth lovin' you or the kindness you've shown
Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
Help me Jesus I know what I am
But now that I know that I've needed you so
Help me, Jesus, my soul's in your hand
Try me, Lord, if you think there's a way
I can try to repay all I've taken from you
Maybe Lord I can show someone else
What I've been through myself, on my way back to you
Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
Help me Jesus I know what I am
But now that I know that I've needed you so
Help me, Jesus, my soul's in your hand
Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
Help me Jesus I know what I am
But now that I know that I've needed you so
Help me Jesus my souls in your hand
Jesus, my soul's in your hand.
Why Me LordStory - Told and Sung By kris kristofferson
Kristofferson has a lot to offer someone like OP. I should know. 😉
Great recommendation, obviously inspired.
Here's another one OP - don't be too hard on yourself, you've personally brought great clarity to me on these forums many times in the past. You're doing His Work wether you know it or not. 👍
My mother used to watch Gathers every Saturday night, and I used to go over a sit and watch with her. Also used to watch Charles Stanley with her often.
Because we love the truth and seek it. We have enough discernment to see what is false, by God's grace. We are willing to walk alone, suffer being ridiculed and called names. Jesus went ahead of us and suffered far greater rejection and opposition All we can do is stay in faith and pray: the prayers of the righteous avails much. We all count and contribute to the fight in our own way. Stay strong, keep the faith, trust our heavenly Father, follow Jesus.
You are who you choose to be. Every day we choose anew. You could turn back tomorrow, close your eyes, and dissolve into the herd; it's easy. Please don't.
I couldn’t have expressed my feelings more clearly than you just did. I ponder the same questions every day. Thankfully we have this platform to express ourselves to like minded people. I don’t know why my eyes have been opened from the beginning. I credit GOD. I believe that we will have to guide the lost at some point. I’m truly thankful for all of the good, honest, brave people that exist. Thanks to you all!
All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. By His grace you are saved because you answered the call. It’s really that simple and mind blowing at the same time. God Bless.
My old football coach, God rest his soul, always said at the end of the game you want your best players on the field. When the game is on the line you have to have the warriors in the fight. God knew you were a warrior and chose you to be in the game at the end. As for your sins, they are washed clean by the Blood of Jesus. Stop trying to be perfect or dwelling on your past sins because they are forgotten by your creator (Hebrews 8:12). God bless you anon and thank you for serving our beloved country. You did what you had to do for your brothers on the field of battle, try to let it go and move forward knowing that God chose you.
I have been led to this same place, with the same questions. While our backgrounds are different, the theme is the same. I often question "why me Lord, why are others around me not seeing?". Then I doubt myself, question what is real and then read what you just wrote. This is how God intervenes---he reminds us he is with us, had led some of us to this place in this time for a reason. My faith is strong that he will reveal our role when it is time. Say strong in faith, our Lord will prevail.
WOW!!...well put fellow Patriot. I don't have any answers but I am confident there are millions of us who have similar feelings and are yearning for answers every day. We must stay strong and stay together. We cannot let evil win!!!
God chose you (and many others) for a reason fren...You see without seeing evil, you would not recognize it as plainly as you do. God does not send the blind and sheltered into a battle such as this unprepared. For you (and many others) there will be no further hesitation when you are called upon because he who hesitates is lost.
Jesus came to save our immortal soul, to cleanse up of our sins....we are all sinners who were saved through Christ. If you have truly repented (key word here) you are saved and worthy of His forgiveness. Now you must forgive yourself, pick up Gods armor and march with His heavenly army to a battle to save the spirit. God often chooses those who don't feel worthy in order to cement faith.
You know Gods will from your sin. Now is the time to rise up, offer yourself up to no longer be consumed by the fear of unrighteousness and show mercy to those you might not have in the past. Strengthen your faith, sharpen the sword of God and learn humility in the eyes of the Lord brings honor, patience brings understanding and faith brings peace to the soul.
That's absolutely correct....now lay the burdens you continue to carry at God's feet, tell Him you surrender them to Him, never to be picked up again by you. He will carry them.
You have been blessed with enlightenment...God found you worthy...give thanks fren.
I stopped having faith in religion but continue having faith in God and Jesus - I don't think They care if you don't follow a formula - you believe and acknowledge Them is all the matters imo.
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
Maybe because we know true evil? For most evil is a nebulous concept. idk - just spitballin here. I have had the same questions. But still, we put one foot in front of the other & carry on
I remember q post #773 &774. It hit me hard when I read this and have never forgotten it. Q stated this:
You were chosen for a specific REASON.
Q
I believe he was telling us here that it was no coincidence that any of us found Q and were awakened at what was going on. God choose everyone of us for a reason.
I use to ask myself this as well. It was a constan never ending wondering. Only when I finally said ok God yes me, HOW can I best work for your will. Once u do this God will show u why u. I will pray for u. God loves u more than u can ever know. I'm sure u Have many strengths God is just waiting to put to use for his glory. Turn to Jesus he will give u the answer u seek
Grace and Mercy: Definitions and Differences
The Greek word used for mercy is most often eleos (pity, compassion) and for grace is charis(favor). Mercy and grace, as paraphrased from Willmington’s Guide to the Bible, can be differentiated as follows: mercy is the act of withholding deserved punishment, while grace is the act of endowing unmerited favor. In His mercy, God does not give us punishment we deserve, namely hell; while in His grace, God gives us the gift we do not deserve, namely heaven.
Mercy and grace are two sides of a coin – and the coin is love. In the author’s own words, mercy is a compassionate love to the weak, and grace is a generous love to the unworthy. Humans are weak and unworthy – we all need God’s mercy and grace. Mercy takes us to the path of forgiveness, while grace leads us to reconciliation.
The only sinless person to ever walk this earth was The Lord Jesus Christ. All of us are born children of Adam, spiritually seperated from God and in need of reconcilliation. Christ's death, burial, and resurection achieved that reconcilliation for the whole world. You have to believe it to appropriate it.
Rom 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
2.Heb 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
Heb 9:22 "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."
You want to know why you? Because you are a sinner. because God wants to save his children who havr been lost.
God tests his faithful, like he did Job, and this i know too well, yet still i believe and have faith in him. God gives to the lost a chance of redemption. You have taken that chance, brother. Believe in Him, and strive to follow his word and his law.
At the end of the day, we are all sinners. If you strive to be better tomorrow than you were today, however, you are on the right path.
People like us, and isnide of that, Vets like you and I were awakened to do exactly what we're doing now. God chose us because of what we've done. ALL of what we've done. ALL of what we've seen and experienced. I think it's because of this that puts us in the perfect position to help or fellow Man. Do we feel worthy? Hardly, but that doesn't mean we aren't worthy. EVERYONE is worthy of God's Love and Forgiveness, as long as they go to Him and ask for it. The fact that after all we've done He STILL continues to Love us and show us The Way is proof af that. Call it penance, if you want, for the bad we've done. Call it Forgiveness. Call it whatever you want. I don't think it really matters, as long as we continue to walk The Path He has set us on and continue to ask for his Guidance, Strength, Love, and Wisdom. Nor do I think a lot of these questions you have matter.
I had a lot of those same questions you have. I would continually ask Him, "Why?" Then one day, "out of the blue" about 2 mths ago, He spoke to me and said, "Why does it matter? Isnt It enough that I say, ' YOU matter? 'That I say, 'I Love YOU?' I chose YOU for this because 'I LOVE YOU!' Nothing else matters." It hit me like a ton of bricks. I was driving my daughter to school that morning. Had to pull over and sit as the tears streamed down my face. She asked if I was ok. I told her I didn't know. She then said, "I love you, daddy. It's ok. Everything is ok because we have each other and we have God." That's when it the tears stopped. He said, "She's right." And then a yuuuuuge weight was lifted off of me. Everything got a little brighter, like there was more light overcoming the dark shadows over this world.
So, it doesn't matter, "why" we were chosen. Each if us were chosen because God wills it. That's enough for me now, and it should be enough for everyone here.
Christ cried out, “It is finished!” tetelestai in Greek was an accounting word meaning “paid in full.” Nothing good that we do can be added. We are saved in an instant but sanctification will take our whole life long.
“Being confident of this very thing, He that Who has begun a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Phil. 1:6
Because for whatever reason, we have enough Good in our hearts to be able to see the Truth.
Friend, there are more veils to be lifted. You're right. I don't want to red pill you on things you may not be ready to hear, but please... send me a DM if you want to have a conversation. I'd love to chat further about this and help you open your eyes even more, if you're willing to hear new information.
I was an Atheist for nearly my entire life, up until my journey toward Truth led me to not believe, but KNOW that God is real. That Satan is real. That there's so much more to this realm than we ever thought possible.
I'd love to chat with another Good-hearted person. I really don't have anyone anymore, so the conversation would be very welcome.
3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Great verse. Here is another one from that great Book “How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.”
Proverbs 16:16
God saw the good in you, fren, and it outweighed the bad. He saw that holy spark within you and called your name. Rejoice, fren, because you've been chosen! Now go out into the world and proclaim His Name.
You are here because you were called by God. So, realizing that, continue to move in the right direction with your mind, feelings and will, better known as your heart.
So that we, like the Apostle Paul in the Bible, who was the worst sinner and a murderer and persecutor of Christians would wake up, repent and sin no more and in turn follow Christ Jesus and lead others to him and help the lost, needy, broken, hurting and when you have seen these things first hand and been there, God uses that (as he had me, the daughter of a homeless alcoholic who never healed from a broken back on job injury) to give empathy and a desire to help others in a wide variety of horrible situations. God used my dad’s situation to call me to open a Christian Camp which will help many in horrible situations. I am currently waiting for Him to open the right doors. Ask God to direct you to your calling that he has for you.
I am convinced we are all God's children, not just some creation he developed, hence we are made in his own image & Jesus Christ alluded to an even stronger connection John 10:34
That said, if you are a father (or mother) you know that you would do anything to help course correct any of your children who even had a sliver of real desire to change. Probably even if they only claimed they wanted it, you would give them every single opportunity.
I ask. Would you hate your child? Can you be disappointed with someone & still love them & want what is best for them? Can a blind man ever truly appreciate the joy that comes from bright winter afternoon on the slopes of Park City, Ut or Aspen, Co? Is that blind man shielded from the paint hat comes from not wearing sun glasses on those same slopes? Can a deaf man, or even one with a moderate hearing impairment truly enjoy the full resonating sound of a symphony playing in an acoustically well designed concert hall? Should a diabetic that feels the sting of a thorn in their foot be greatful that they can feel it & get it removed before the foot is infected & needs to be removed, or would it be better to lose the feeling in their foot so they do not know?
My friend, you have been awakened so you can appreciate the joy of redemption even more than your fellows & friends who do not know the true horrors in this world. You now have the ability to appreciate the good with so much more depth than others who have only imagined it.
My Father in Heaven & God may simply love that you are doing your best & improving each day. You still struggle, though so does a toddler when they are learning to walk. Did you see that in your basic training, where many who enlisted may have never been taught how to even hold a firearm, let alone shoot with accuracy? It takes practice, and so long as you practice emulating the service & love our Savior did, you are doing just fine IMO.
My children have asked for help with video games multiple times. With my help sometimes we win, many times we fail due to their lack of fine motor functions & response times in the games. This develops with more practice (think of the analogy of practicing to catch a ball).
I love you friend. Keep practicing love, hope, service & kindness. Maybe OUR (Operation Underground Railroad) or something like it would be a good outlet for you with your background, maybe not. Though I know you are destined for greatness if you will allow yourself to see the same greatness & potential our Savior & God sees in you too.
"Why me" is a victim's mindset. When you play the victim you will always feel you didn't deserve what was dealt to you. We are all put here for a purpose, and until you learn what that purpose is you will keep relieving tough situations. Life was never meant to be easy and the most important things in life are worth fighting for. So think what is most important to you, what can you live with out, and what you're willing to risk for those important things. Also, all the crap going on in the world, while upsetting and confusing, doesn't matter. What matters is you,, your health,, mental health,, and your direct family(I like to think of this as "things I can control directly" . If your job is pressuring you, find a new job, significant other being a dick, speak say something and set boundaries, feeling fat, eat better, one by one start identifying the obstacles in your life making you unhappy and fix it . Only you can be responsible for how your life ends up, it is easy to put the blame on others and turn your head. Moral of the story, don't be the victim, be better, make the change. Don't be afraid to reach out for help either. Keep pushing forward.
I realize it's silly maybe. But I'm reminded of a scene in the Stargate : Ark of Truth movie.

INT—MESS HALL, ODYSSEY
[Tomin sits at a table, staring out the window at the hyperspace streaks. Marrick sits a corner table nearby, studying Tomin. Both are wearing SGC issue coveralls. Teal'c approaches Tomin's table with a tray of food. Tomin looks over. Teal'c sits. Tomin goes back to staring out the window. Teal'c glances back at where Marrick is sitting before turning to Tomin.]

Nothing I have done since turning against the Goa'uld will make up for the atrocities I once committed in their name. Somewhere deep inside you, you knew it was wrong. A voice you did not recognize screamed for you to stop. You saw no way out. It was the way things were. They could not be changed. You tried to convince yourself the people you were hurting deserved it. You became numb to their pain and suffering. You learned to shut out the voice speaking against it.
TOMIN
(clearly moved)
There's always a choice.
TEAL'C
Indeed, there is.
TOMIN
I chose to ignore it.
TEAL'C
Yet you sit here now. (GAW)
TOMIN
I sit here...and I cannot imagine the day when I will forgive myself.
TEAL'C
(intensely)
Because it will never come. One day, others may try to convince you they have forgiven you. That is more about them than you. For them, imparting forgiveness is a blessing.
[Tomin faces Teal'c.]
TOMIN
How do you go on?
TEAL'C
It is simple. You will never forgive yourself. Accept it. You hurt others. Many others. That cannot be undone. You will never find personal retribution. But your life does not have to end. That which is right, just, and true can still prevail. If you do not fight for what you believe in, all may be lost for everyone else. But do not fight for yourself, fight for others—others that may be saved through your effort. That is the least you can do.
Why me Lord what have I ever done

Every hear what Cathy O'Brien has to say about Kristofferson?
I read about KK's exploits by COB. I pray that he has repented. God will judge them all.

Yes! Consider also the Apostle Paul and all he suffered to deliver the Gospel of Grace to the world,
I have always found the most satisfying answer to the “why me” question has been “why not me”
It goes for the good and the bad situations. Knowing the answer to why does not usually change anything
This is such a good comment. Bookmarked!
Brilliant comment.
Christ perfect work of redemption. Either you focus on it or yourself.
It's a choice.

We don't have an answer for this, except for grace: Wonderful Grace of Jesus! (You really want to hear this with four part harmony, if possible.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvX_s2pdNQw
1 Wonderful grace of Jesus,
greater than all my sin;
how shall my tongue describe it,
where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden,
setting my spirit free,
for the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.
Refrain:
Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
deeper than the mighty rolling sea,
higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain,
all sufficient grace for even me;
broader than the scope of my transgressions,
greater far than all my sin and shame!
O magnify the precious name of Jesus, praise his name!
reaching to all the lost,
by it I have been pardoned,
saved to the uttermost.
Chains have been torn asunder,
giving me liberty,
for the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me. [Refrain)
Reaching the most defiled,
By its transforming power,
Making him God’s dear child,
Purchasing peace and heaven
For all eternity—
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

First off, why us? God has no hands but our hands.
Your sin? So what. God solution of Christ is bigger than your sin.
Become Son conscious and not sin conscious.
Paul the apostle started his career entering into home fellowships and killing Christians.
I think Christ perfect work is sufficient to cover the little shit you did.

Best wishes, fren. God be with you. <3
Luke 15
3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
same boat killer. the answer: PROVERBS 3:5
Great verse. Here is another one from that great Book “How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” Proverbs 16:16
Amen fren and GOD Bless.
God saw the good in you, fren, and it outweighed the bad. He saw that holy spark within you and called your name. Rejoice, fren, because you've been chosen! Now go out into the world and proclaim His Name.
WWG1WGA! WRWY!
Because everyone hears a different voice. Maybe someone needs to hear yours.
Thank you.
I realize it's silly maybe. But I'm reminded of a scene in the Stargate : Ark of Truth movie.
From transcript.
TEAL'C Nothing I have done since turning against the Goa'uld will make up for the atrocities I once committed in their name.
TEAL'C Indeed, there is.
TOMIN I chose to ignore it.
TEAL'C Yet you sit here now. (GAW)
TOMIN I sit here...and I cannot imagine the day when I will forgive myself.
TEAL'C
(intensely)
Because it will never come. One day, others may try to convince you they have forgiven you. That is more about them than you. For them, imparting forgiveness is a blessing.
[Tomin faces Teal'c.]
TOMIN How do you go on?
TEAL'C It is simple. That is the least you can do.

. So why us?
Maybe the Same reason a private doesn't command a battalion. Hasn't experienced enough “shit" to be able to deal with said shit when shit comes up.
I don't know really. .... I'm just going with it.
Powerful Thread ! Have asked the same many times. Very Enlightening to know others have asked the same too. I like the answer : does it matter ?
Casting Crowns - Nobody
Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life I’ve been told I belong at the end of the line
With all the other Not-Quites
With all the Never-Get-It-Rights
But it turns out we’re the ones You’ve been looking for all this time
‘Cause I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus..........
