Fear does terrible things to the human brain. Critical thinking shuts down, we become vulnerable to impulse and emotion. The people of this board are good people who love and care about their families, friends and pets. Consequently, banishing fear is impossible when those people are threatened. Why is she only telling us not to be afraid of smallpox? Why not tell us to not be afraid of covid? Does she not want us to be prepared for the next possible event? I do agree with her on one point, question everything and do not be afraid to do so.
