The DOJ can withhold all DOJ funding from Sanctuary Cities... but do they have the authority to withhold ALL Federal Funding from Sanctuary Cities? D.O.T. and Highway funds, EPA cleanup funds, Education Department funds? Government Grants? Disaster Recovery Funds? Public Works Projects?
I don't know how far the DOJ's reach is in this declaration.

That is a good question. I look at it from the position that what these cities are doing is illegal. From that perspective, I think that the federal govt. may be legally obliged to withhold funding. The federal govt. cannot knowingly [legally] fund criminal activity using taxpayer monies.
But, does that funding apply to resources that are not directly connected to such illegal activities? I think, maybe. If federal taxpayer funds that are granted to states/cities can be redirected (through state/city actions) towards illegal activities, then I believe a case could be made that the DoJ does indeed have authority to stop those funds. And, probably a legal obligation to do so, as well.
Just my opinion though.

Beyond that, I'm not a constitutional law scholar and quite honestly I hesitated to post this for the very reason you mentioned but came to the conclusion that this is what she said and ppl deserve to know that she said it. Whether it is a possible scenario or not, she still said it.
Do you have an actual quote? Are you saying that (quoted) Bondi said "I am halting all federal funding to blah blah"?
I haven't seen any direct quote, and granted, there is a lot of reporting out there using the wording that she "paused all federal funding", so perhaps the sloppiness isn't restricted to X. A lot of media seem to think that the nuance of stopping funding from her department (as opposed to ALL federal funding) isn't particularly relevant.
From that angle, it's hard to fault your posting. But in general, I do think that its important for us to vet and filter what is posted on GAW. There are far too many posters who simply copy/paste what they see on X or elsewhere, without applying discernment or without adding actual value.
