Maybe they are playing this fight to get the dems to vote yes on Trump's Big Beautiful Bill. If both supported it, then the dems would totally be against it, no matter what was in it. This way they aren't sure what to do.
On the one hand Trump acts like he wants this bill to pass & even going so far to agree with Sen. Warren on a few topics... then you have Elon bashing the bill very hard. But they just had that nice briefing in the oval office about Elon's time is up working with DOGE but says he will still be around to give advice and got a golden key.

TBH I’m not sure how much of the H1B thing was Kayfab and how much was more just illustrating long ignored problems with our wealthy “Elite”. That being a substantial number of them even of the ones on “Our side” are more there for the economic aspect and personal economic self-interest. Rather than any overt love for a Nation and its people/history. I mean the fallout basically killed Viveks position with DOGE.
Them being motivated by Economic self-interest ultimately isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But it is something to keep in mind when dealing with, and listening to, people who can make more money in an hour than 90% of the country makes in a year.
