I've noticed. Wictor, OTOH, openly mocked Q supporters. I think Cates knew it was real, but also knew he would have painted a target on his back for legit reporting.
I turned Tucker Carlson on to Q right before he got his primetime slot. He looked at me like I had a dick growing out of my head. But I know some of the things I said stuck with him. He doesn't denigrate Q these days, but does like to throw out "crazy Qanon" references. I'm assuming he knows the difference.

His failure to seriously address the election fraud early was egregious, and definitely soured me on him. I'm sure that's somehow included in his contract, but that was a big tell. That, and his desire to be CIA in college.

I admit that we still watch 15min Tucker/Waters segments at home, but I never forgave him for not calling out the stolen election back when he could have made a difference.

Brenden Dilley specifically has stated that his disdain for all things "Q related" is because he believes it to pose a threat to things "MAGA related", such as a strawman label to turn us all into terror threats. So, will he release his position now that Kash Patel, someone with exponentially more op sec credentials than he has, endorses a key "Q related" phrase? Or will he cling to his position and reveal that it was, whether in the beginning or not, at least in the end, just a mere ego trip? Time will tell.
