Why indeed. What things can not happen if Congress is out of session or not even sworn in?

The are only two "official" branches of government right now.

Incoming House members who have not taken the oath cannot vote, engage in floor proceedings, introduce new legislation or conduct other official House business until a speaker is chosen.

What opportunities does this present? Arrests?

Article I, Section 6, Clause 1:

The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

When is the House in session?

A new Congress begins at noon January 3 of each odd-numbered year following a general election, unless it designates a different day by law. A Congress lasts for two years, with each year constituting a separate session. The Legislative Reorganization Act of 1970 requires Congress to adjourn sine die no later than July 31 of each year unless there is a declared war, or unless Congress otherwise provides.

Sine die --> Latin for "indefinite"

What actions might the Executive or Judicial branches take at this time that would be prevented if the House were in session?

Thank you. I'm working on an answer to the last question. Almost seems like the three branches are supposed to be independent of each other. Making one disappear might not make much of an impact on the other two, in the short run. This line of thought could be a dead end.

Agreed. Very nice catch on the speaker vote thing. I just thought it was cool that a group of MAGA republicans was actually trying to elect a speaker that was not a slimy swamp creature... but I now believe it may have an even bigger purpose. Hello, Brunson SC case... I'm looking at yooooo.

Hopium Express... I like that.

I have been trying hard to not overdose on hopium any more... but that plan has now been shot full of holes. One more time riding the Hopium Express it is then.

As you point out, Uncle_Fester's post was a good one. I, like you I think, am getting very tired of having hope and seeing it dashed. But if there really is no plan then it will truly be up to us and that means a revolution--which I think most people don't want, until we are pressed into it.

In the minimal datefagging way possible, I've thought for some time that when the first tripcode from Q "leaked", it was something like 'now comes the p@in --23', I dreaded at the time (2019 when I first conceived) that it meant that we would be waiting until 2023 before things started to turn and that the offensive against the DS would start coming to the fore.

TO think we're not even a week into the year and things are looking up.

So if the incoming House members can't be sworn in until a Speaker is appointed, then what happens to the House members that have to vacate their spots for the new incoming members? Do they stay until the new members are sworn in or did they have to leave their seats on January 3rd?

What actions might the Executive or Judicial branches take at this time that would be prevented if the House were in session?

Arrests of Representatives and/or Representative-elects. Government shutdown due to lack of budget. Inability to impeach.

This is what can happen when the House is not in session. Recess appointments are not on the table, because that's when the Senate is in recess, not the House.

▲ 4 ▼
– What-Me-Worry 4 points 3 years ago +4 / -0

Looks like the senate just voted to be in recess "vacation" until Jan 23rd. Nearly 3 weeks.

EDIT: Senate calendar PDF says they are are off for 3 weeks, but under "Executive business" Upchuck Schumer has the senate in recess until exactly 1:05 today (Jan 6th). Why so specific?

By unanimous consent, on the request of Mr. Schumer, at 6:36 p.m., the Senate recessed, under its order of today, until 1:05 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– BeerMan 4 points 3 years ago +4 / -0

This is the bullshit that the Senate does to prevent recess appointments. They all leave town except 1, and then every day or so the 1 person opens the session and then immediately closes it.

The Senate does it just because they can, and they don't want the President appointing people without their approval.

In this case, I don't really care because Brandon is bad dude. But it was super shitty when they did this to Trump in a GOP-controlled Senate.

Should be interesting to see if they start attacking McCarthy if he won't step aside and some unforseen Boulder starts rolling down the hill towards them.

The military can move on them at any time regardless... treason overrides.

To answer the why, is because they need to shut out the Hawks who are drumming for WW3, that include the likes of Sen. Graham, and a rabid Ukraine contingent. There are not enough reasonable voices to cancel them out. I'm pretty sure that the MIC realizes they are totally on the back foot, with low enlistment, and dwindling stocks due to the furnace that is in Ukraine. You can see evidence of that, in the latest Ukraine package, which is not enough to 'win' anything, but is just only enough to mollify congress appetites. The Pentagon was putting on the brakes, IMO.

It is in effect, a "military is the only way situation".

I messaged back and forth with my newly elected rep to congress yesterday…here is the conversation:

Me: McCarthy is not our guy. Please do not vote for him again.

Rep: Who is then?

Rep: If you think Goetz is doing this for anything other than money, power, and fame, you are mistaken

Me: I would appreciate very much, a vote for the guy that endorsed you and the reason we supported you. Donald J. Trump.

Me: And if you think Goetz is doing this for money, power and fame, can you please tell me what you think McCarthy’s intentions are? Without meaningful change, we get more of the same, and we strongly disapprove of more of the same.

Rep: I personally spoke to Donald Trump last night and he is strongly encouraging support of Kevin McCarthy for speaker of the house. What else do you want me to do?

Me: If that’s true, I will stand down. God’s got a better plan than I, and I will trust that this is part of His plan. Thanks for the response!😊

Rep: I have no reason to lie to you

Interesting, right?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– dominickmilford 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

Agreed. I think that went WAY under the radar to most of the normie public and the media was happy to distract.

They are VERY SERIOUS about reprisal against those who threaten to go after the cartel though. Before the Midterm, I speculated that would be the MAIN REASON they'd shut down Kari Lake and steal it from her, no matter how dirty their hands had to get to do it.

AZ is the source point for the introduction of most of the fent and a great deal of the human trafficking operations coming across the border too. They absolutely couldn't risk any shutdowns or meddling with the border from someone serious. She would not only disrupt the cashflow but could risk uncovering the entire Iran-Contra style operation.

Think about it: Kari Lake may actually be vindicated when this whole court proceeding is done. Why risk showing your hand, all those ways you manipulate votes, especially with the machines in widespread use?

Why risk making Kari a national threat by giving her the ability to potentially jump on the Trump train, if you shut her out of the AZ job?

MAGA didn't win a single Secretary of State race and just one of the governor races (although NV and that person is questionable in terms of their ties to the establishment because of the Vegas shooting) and there are bigtime reasons for that. They blocked off the pressure points for fear of something EXACTLY LIKE this McCarthy thing happening and causing further exposure, obstruction and humiliation.

But I digress. Does anyone know how we did with State AG races by the way? It seems like we lost ALL of those, too.

We’ll see what happens today with the Brunson case and the Speaker votes.

Sure seems like interesting timing for the Supreme Court to schedule Jan 6 as the date to decide if they’re accepting the case (who knows, maybe they already did in secret for National Security reasons).

It can also seem like the group of 20 is stalling the selection of the Speaker for some reason.

Another thread on here (stickied as of now) has Roger Stone explaining this move as follows: Dems could vote "present", in effect abstaining. This would lower the threshold of 218 to something less, giving McCave-in the votes.

However, Roger thinks this is unlikely because once Dems started doing this, other R's would see that a deal was made w/Dems and would not vote for McCave, so it would be interesting to see if he would go that far.

I think it could happen because the DS Cabal can team up to get him in... they already proved they don't care about our opinions. Hannity and that (traitorous) crowd would just continue to demonize the 20 patriots and gloss over the D/R uniparty move. IMHO

Of course it’s allowed, it’s a floor election in which every congressperson votes - but the Democrats have been voting as a bloc for Jeffries so the only thing that’s mattered so far is the divided Republican vote.

But in practice there is no way that any of them will flip to McCarthy. There is exactly one thing that the Democrats and the rebels agree about - and that is Kevin McCarthy’s unsuitability for the job.

Less unlikely is that a half-dozen Republicans will cross the aisle to support a Democrat - Jeffries would step aside for that.

Remember, this .WIN is the public face of the Great Awakening, and, as a member here, you agree to represent the Great Awakening movement against Globalism, Communism and Progressive Insanity in the best, most positive way possible. NOTE: Your comments and posts may become news. Keep it classy!

This is not a 'fringe conspiracy' site: Visit https://conspiracies.win if that's your thing!

No doomers or shills

If you can't use common sense, you'll get banned without hesitation. If you're a shill, you fall under this rule. If you're a doomer, you fall under this rule as you just add garbage to the site like the other two. This includes forum sliding.

General Rules

  • Mods will issue NO warnings, followed by temporary bans and/or permanent bans. DO NOT GRIEF THE MODS.

  • Keep posts related to topics Q has raised or that are current.

  • Keep post duplication (especially from other .WINs) to a minimum.

  • HIGH EFFORT, HIGH-INFO posts only! Please respect other readers' time. Please use descriptive titles. No URLs in titles, pls. No clickbait.

  • No fame-fagging; no, "your" post did not get removed! Were you the original author?? Eyes on the prize, people!

  • Memes encouraged, but no low-quality, low-info posts.

  • Keep it honest and accurate.

  • GAW Supporters ONLY. (Sorry, the train had no brakes.)

  • Handshake noobs will be scrutinized by their Q knowledge, sincerity, and respect.

  • Remember, your conduct here represents the Q movement! OUR ENEMIES ARE WATCHING!

  • Please direct all complaints to modmail first!
