I'm struggling.
And to cope, I (ab)use substances, like alcohol, weed and other stuff.
I want to get out, but I'm not ready to accept Jesus as my saviour, because I... well... It's complicated.
I DO accept Jesus as what he is, and that he saves People, a lot.
But...
For the moment, I won't be able to respond to comments in this post, because I'm heading to bed, pretty wasted.
I don't know where this thread will take me, but here we go.
Please, I'd rather not be encouraged to put all my faith in Jesus etc.
I do believe in the Creator, though...
Btw, GAW community...
Thank you for being here the last couple of years.
Edit: Wow, thank you for all your support! I‘ll read all of it and will certainly get back to you all. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Cut the junk food, get some sunlight and go for a 10 minute walk every day.
Do that for a month and see how you feel. A better mindset will result in better decisions, which will lead to better results.
You already know this I'm sure, but if you believe in God then get off your arse and give Him a chance to believe in you.
Good luck!
Cut out all refined sugar from your life. Its empty calories, spikes inflammation and our bodies don’t need it. Don’t try to do everything all at once, just one thing at a time. The sugar addiction is hard to break but once you have, and your body has adjusted, kicking the booze will be easier.
Best of luck!
All carbs break down the same in the end, refined sugar just does it more quickly.
OP:
Cutting down (or stopping altogether) huge density, fast digesting sugars (that contain a lot of chemicals) like high/fructose corn syrups will automatically do a solid. Bonus points is that when you do treat yourself to it, it will taste even better after you haven't had the poison for a long time.
Pop multiple times a day as an every day part of life is inherently a major thing.
The primary difference between refined sugars and sugars you get from other foods is that refined sugars are empty carbs and calories, so there is no nutritional value. But something something you can exploit your metabolism by using refined sugars something something explained it a lot and I'm dangerously close to earning "that keto guy" flair.
Getting more exercise and trying keto (if you're diabetic or prediabetic there are potential risks so consult your general
depopulation injection centerphysician first) can do a lot for you, even if you just try keto for a month or two. Carbs are trash for your body in general, and you might find yourself more energetic, more alert, focused and more positive.I, myself, am doing a cleanse in a few days and then going back to keto for a while because it's a stark difference on a high carb lifestyle. Everyone should try a proper zero carb diet at least for a short time in their lives.
I started Keto a couple of months ago and have lost weight and, generally, feel much better. And the food you can make without carbs is outstanding. I never get hungry.
i have seen multiple keto mentions here lately.. whats the buzz about?
Watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpnOArocDtA). Then start looking into the Glycemic Index (GI) of various foods, which is the tendency of the food to boost insulin levels, along with the Glycemic Load (which is the correlation between the GI of the food and the size of the serving you are contemplating. There are apps that can figure this out for you. When go down this Keto path, you will be amazed at the types of food that are good for you (and taste good), and be shocked (not really) about how our betters have been lying to us all these years about health and what we should eat. Bottom line, a Keto diet will help you lose weight and feel better for the rest of your (longer) life.
Did you mean to reply to me?
Oooooohhhh...........I wouldn't have thought of that.
I see that now, thanks :)
I think he was expanding on what you already said. 'cut the junkfood' = his whole post.
oic :)
^^ Rock solid advice right here ^^. I'd only add learning to sit quietly for 10-15 minutes a day...focusing on your breath. The only sure fire away to short-circuit that runaway monkey-mind that drives people insane!!
I have a problem where if I focus on my breathing, then I find that I can never feel like I am getting a full and satisfying breath, because breathing manually is shit and then I think about how I can't find a comfortable spot for my tongue and then I just end up an uncomfortable anxious wreck
Hahaha. I've done that before.
Have you tried stomach breathing?
It’s common happens all the time. Try cutting back on things you know you shouldn’t do. Harder said than done :) Try some breathing techniques when you feel it come on. Learn to control the panic feeling
Alchemy of Breath offer a free Sunday meditation where you get to see all the issues people have with breathing
alchemyofbreath.com
Hmmm, that's odd, never heard anybody tell me something like this before.
The main point is to just NOTICE your breath. No need to change anything. Can you just notice that you're breathing? It's just a shift in your attention. Away from the monkey-mind through stream into the present moment. It produces magical results. But be forewarned, that monkey-mind wants your attention 24x7 and doesn't give up easily.
If on the other hand you wanted to practice deeper breathing, which is a great exercise because 99% of the adult population are shallow breathers, you should always start by performing an exhale where you slowly, evenly push out all the DEAD AIR out of your lungs. When you do the exercise it will feel like you're pulling back your stomach as the last of the dead air is finally forced out. Anyway, once there's no more air to push out you'll take a complete and perfect FULL BREATH, perhaps for the first time in decades. And the following couple of breaths will be mostly full as well as you gradually slip back into your habitual shallow breathing patterns.
So net-net, always start the full-breath exercise with the full exhale first. And the noticing exercise is a 100% ZERO EFFORT practice. All you're doing is shifting your attention.
Good luck!
And take Vit D!
Take it with magnesium, zinc, and vitamin K as well. Those three are needed for D to be utilized properly. There's a good supplement called Magwell that includes D, Mag, and Zinc in a 2 capsul serving.
Q-munify on Amazon as well.

Your mere posting this info suggests you're asking for feedback (help). I take it from what you wrote with the "(ab)use" term you used, you don't believe it's that bad right now. Somewhere in between? Today you may have good health, but then all of a sudden it tends to turn against you.
It's ironic, my wife had problems with alcohol and it was often accompanied with MJ. She worked out and was in good health, but then one day it suddenly turned on her. The morning after, she had an 'event' on the freeway. I think they call it a relapse. It freaked her out because she lost feeling in her hands and legs. She was fortunate to pull over and call for help. A paramedic truck was the first to respond and they protected her from the police. She could have been arrested for having a relapse, but the paramedic commanded the situation and brought her to a detox facility. This is when I first learned of it. She recovered from her 'event', but if that police officer learned of her condition, she would have most certainly lost her job. A very good job too. She too, believed in Jesus the way you do. And like you, she wasn't ready for Him. At the detox hospital, they told her about Alcohol Anonymous and gave her a phone number to call. At first, she didn't call. It was my urging her to do so, she finally decided to at least give them a call and find out more. That initial phone call turned her life completely around. She has been a dedicated member for over 5 years now. She leads a group and has helped many other women and men in those 5 years. Her mentor and best friend is also a former alcohol and drug abuser. My wife learned that alcohol and drugs are an actual barrier to learning the truth about Jesus. AA is a place for people banding together. All having very similar problems. There's far more people like you who are members and they come from all walks of life. You'd be amazed. From that commitment she made to cease polluting her body, a yearning grows in understanding the Creator and the power within you. Alcohol masks all of this. There's a very good reason why alcohol is referred to as 'spirits". This is why so many AA members become Christians. Their growing faith strengthens them.
This is a beautiful message. I do hope the OP takes time to read this response and acts on it.
That was a glorious message on this Sunday evening.
Thank you so much for sharing that. That's excellent to know and so glad to hear that your wife was able to turn her life around.
SO happy for you and your wife! 🙏
❤️
I am also not very religious but my wife once made a great point that opened my eyes a bit. She said look at all of the evil people in the world. These people do their Freemason/Babylonian/Luciferian symbols more and more out in the open. These people don't hate Buddha. They don't hate Allah or Zeus, or Hashem or Krishna or any other religious deity or prophet.
But man oh man do they hate Jesus Christ. If you make fun of any other gods or any other religion you can be cancelled but if you make fun of Jesus the evil people in the world will support you and you might even get your own art museum show.
It's something to think about.
You don't have to be religious to have a relationship with Jesus our savior. It can be just between you and Him. If you have to pick between Christ and a church, always choose Christ. When you do that, and dig into the Word, you'll find out YOU are the church.... WE are the church.
AMEN. I wish more people understood this.
This is my way, too. It has changed my life.
Yep, this is part of the reason it became very real for me. Many don’t believe in God or Jesus but they sure as Hell believe in Lucifer.
Horrifying but true.
AA, saved me, go to a meeting! I was totally hopeless. I'm free! Go to a meeting, WWG1WGA
I have been there fren. Was addicted to meth and heroin for 10+ years. If u ever wanna talk about Christ and his love for u, I am here. Praying for u. God bless u. Much love
I concur with what others are saying about sunlight. Try getting it to hit your face in the early morning.
Systematic regular exercise has a wonderful way of modulating things. Like appetite for unhealthy things. And off the rail emotions.
A lot of us are struggling. Despite the "no dooming" mantra on this board it ain't all sunshine and roses.
God bless you.
(hug) May your eyes be opened and your heart changed for the better, friend. :)
God bless.
Hang in there. Nothing wrong with praying to God the Father.
u/#god
The enemy is lying to you, saying you don't deserve a savior. But you do. There's nothing you can do to earn it, nothing you can say to talk Him out of His love for you. All you have to do is accept Him. Accept yourself first, flaws and all, and when the fog clears you'll be able to see His hand reaching for you, and you'll reach back. Praying for you fren
Yes , ignore the enemy, and I know , that you know our God is the true living God. All powerful. Step into the light. Jesus ask nothing from you except to let him have your pain. I know bc I am God's least creature, was and still is unworthy to tie his sandle . But I know he loves me and my family and you too.
Start taking 500-1000mg Vitamin C and 150-250mcg of Vitamin D per day.
the thiamine makes my pee smell funny lol
WWG1WGA.
i struggled with alcohol abuse also to the point that I was drinking myself to death.
I read a post out here that pointed out that alcohol, drugs were the lefts, (Satan's agents) tools to make us week, to keep us week, to kill us so that we could not fight back, so that we would be ineffective warriors. I realized that I was falling for their plan to do me in, and determined that I would not let them destroy me.
Do you love your country enough to not let the left destroy you? If the answer is yes, then stop letting them have power over you and stop.
If you care more about you own vices than your country, then keep doing what you're doing. Stand up and be a man!!
10 years sober here. No AA meetings, no major shift to religion. Here is the best piece of advise I can give you, and this goes for any addiction. When you decide its time, only you can make that decision, you will never be successful doing it because someone else says to. Here's the trick that I used. Do not tell anyone but yourself that you are quitting, this way takes an enormous amount of pressure off of you by not having people constantly asking you how you are doing on quitting. This is a private war that only you can win. By not telling anyone, the only person you can dissapoint is you. After your disappointment in yourself (if you even slip up), pull yourself back up and give it another go. I was told i would need medical supervision and drugs if I ever wanted to quit. I drank 2 bottles of 100 proof a day and quit cold turkey and never looked back. I also had no detox sickness or shakes or that kind of thing. Another trick I was told but never had to use was eating chocolate while in a bathtub as hot as you can stand it. Again, I've never tried it but a Baby Ruth and a hot bath can't be all bad. And don't worrie about God, he knows where your heart is without constantly telling him. Good luck Fren.
That's what they told me. I quit on my own anyways. Some have dt's. Some don't. You know what will kill you is continuing to drink like that.
Hey buddy
Most in this thread are focusing on the substance abuse for coping, but I think the main thing is you're struggling. This is a very hard and confusing time to be alive. Lots of mixed signals, the world is spinning out of control, the ship is pitching back and forth. I know the struggle, at least from here.
If there is one thing I can offer, it's detox your mind.
Beware your media diet and what you summon on the black mirror in your pocket. Sometimes you just need to log off for a few days and (soberly) reassess yourself. We can only take so much input input input from the world before fatigue and confusion sets in.
Unplug.
People find Jesus when they do this because when you turn off the funhouse Matrix of news, lols, porn, drugs, politics, disasters, memes, work, and other constant distractions... you rediscover your own soul. It's there all along but gets dizzy and drowned out by the daily spin of waking life.
Try to reconnect with your Source. From there, you can find safe harbor for the storm. We're all going through it together.
Hang on, Warrior of Virtue. We're in the shit now, and this is the time you were born for.
„Black Mirror in my pocket“ - this resonated very strongly with me.
Indeed, my mobile phone is a gateway for so much mind-poison…
Btw, just answering „randomly“ here and there to comments for the moment.
I‘ll follow up with a more thorough answer. It‘s much to digest atm, but in a good way, and I can feel how something stirred in me and my divine side/connection to God starting to wake up.
We forget that NONE of our forefathers had this tool in hand. It's completely unprecedented and requires a lot of personal discipline and self awareness to use it for good and not, as you say, self poisoning.
Great comment. That’s what I’ve been trying to do.
👍🏻
Ask God for support and strength - he listens always :) don’t give up…small goals lead to huge victories - prayers Fren much support sent your way
Anon, just focus on breaking free of vices. It's best to do it now while you can, then suddenly when all hell breaks loose and your only thought to cope is substances. If all hell doesn't break lose, you're freed up to improve in other areas.
Alcoholics Anonymous has saved many lives. Perhaps try to find a chapter? Narcotics Anonymous as well.
Also consider looking into medical treatment. Low dose naltrexone can help people overcome addictions in many cases
Are you willing to be willing to accept Jesus at some point? You can pray that Holy Spirit will help you to be willing. It's ok to be honest that you're not there yet. He knows anyway and is pursuing you.
when i was in a real bad spot i kept repeating to myself....."i can't let satan win!" that's all i could pray
i also read Isa 41.9,10 a lot
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans-Rom 8.26
Jesus is the creator. Read the book of John.
You only have the right now. This moment. Tomorrow will worry for itself.
Set small goals, easy goals. Like make it through the next five hours. Keep doing this. You are living in a special operation, its spiritual warfare.
There is only one way out and only one who can help you.
I will keep you in my prayers.
They say drug/alcohol abuse, in many cases, is the filling of a hole in your life. Something is lacking. And often, it is connection. We have to identify that hole, name what it is you are trying to replace, so you know how to confront the issue and how to connect with a positive outlet. Be it nature, art, music, Jesus Christ, beautiful people, physical movement (my drug of choice was bodybuilding & mma), a quest for knowledge. There are so many ways to bridge that gap and allow yourself the freedom to overcome! Connection. We all have our guilty pleasures, no one is perfect, don’t be hard on yourself. Just as long as you are trying, that is all anyone can ask of you. The first step is caring about yourself & where you’re heading.
I see a lot of comments from Internet doctors recommending all sorts of supplements. That shit really annoys me because if you're eating a healthy diet and you're a normal person, you don't need any of that. It's wasted money and money's tight right now and only going to get tighter for most people. Spend it on real food.
It sounds to me you have more on your chest that you need to deal with. I'm not going to pretend to have the answers. I don't even know what your questions are, but I suspect it's not about anything in that post. Something is bothering you. The substances are a response and they're making it worse for you. You sense there's something spiritual involved, but have no idea how to respond to it. Am I reading that right?
If so, the best thing I can suggest is find someone you trust and talk to them. Whatever is on your mind, you've got to let someone else in. As stoic as we men are taught to be, sometimes, we can't just grin and bear it. Sometimes we can't just tough it out and walk it off. We need help. We need someone else's eyes to help us see and someone else's mind to help us think.
If you want to talk, obviously, we'll try and help here. If you're more private than that, find that trusted someone. Let us know how it worked out and if anything helped.
Best of luck to you friend,
Thank you. You‘re reading me quite right.
I found people where I can confine in. You anons, right here. As the issues at heart lie within myself, adressing them is the first and most important part - I chose you bunch, because doing so, is the first step towards really working on myself.
Start exercising. Stop eating junk food. Take D3 supplements. Focus on losing weight and a lot of the other issues will self-mitigate.
As long as you have a relationship with God that is most important. Get down on your knees and pray. I tend to do it in the shower. The Jesus thing - yeah, it's complicated - focus on the Lord and you'll be good.
Ask God to remove the desire for intoxicating substances.
If you think you need to "clean yourself up" to reach out to Jesus - you are wrong. Jesus meets you exactly where you are. He knows and loves you more than you know and love yourself.
✝️
I'll be praying for you. If I can offer any advice, I would say just try to keep your heart open to the Lord. "Please, I'd rather not be encouraged to put all my faith in Jesus etc." And that's fine for now. We all need to crawl before we run. When you are ready, cry out for Him, even if you don't fully understand it yet. It's when you realize you can't do this alone and need His help that humbles and softens the heart, and that's His opening to you.
You got my prayers. Your soul is my concern and I will take your soul to the father. Just remember there does come a time when you will be turned over to a reprobate mind. After ye have grieved the Holy Spirit enough by rejecting the call. Most of us have in when we were at our lowest. A place I hate to see people but God always visits those he calls.
I'm day 205 sober. We gotchu, fam. This place exists and thrives only because everyone here is waking up together and beginning to believe in themselves. At the same time. That's what made you make this post.
Tomorrow, begin. Just begin, that's all it takes. Every day, take little steps away from the substances. Just go in a good direction every day. In six months that's how you'll look back and see how far away you are from it all.
LET'S GOOOOOO
EDIT: Literally just this moment got a panicked FB message that one of my close friends attempted suicide tonight. He's in the hospital. HOLD THE LINE, frogs. This has to end soon.
😻
That’s rough shit cat. Will lift you and your friend up in m prayers.y
Find Lee Strobel's books and read them. He was an atheist and set out to prove Christianity was fake. He consulted with experts in a lot of fields. The books are very interesting.
What's most important is Jesus didn't wait for anyone to put his faith in Him. He died for us while we were sinners. He's available anytime to us. Just talk to him.
I have been where you are. This is what I did.
https://greatawakening.win/p/15HvGRzfGh/my-awakening-story/
If this resonates with you let me know and I will go into more detail if you like.
Accepting Jesus as your Savior is a process and it sounds like you’re on your way.
Hey Fren!
Doesn't matter if you believe in Jesus or not, he died for everyone
Amen!
Dear friend,
Where we go one, we go all. That includes you! I had a profound and intense desire to pray for you because I’m like you. I know you from knowing myself.
Please don’t ever give up and just see the love that is around you. Appreciate that love because you are worth it!
All my best wishes and sincere hope for you to find peace in this time.
Sassy
I can respond with things to do that would help you, ie. reading and writing (to learn more about yourself), spending time outdoors, exercise, nutrition, etc. But I won’t. Because I know you know already what you need to do to make the first step to getting better. And I also know you know the second and third step. Nobody is going to help you. Only you can. You are the only one that has the power to make that choice, now, not tomorrow, not next year, not after some (insert some excuse/event here). And you are the only one that can execute on it.
First step was starting to talk to you, Anon frens. More steps to follow.
Thank you fren.
