And if you split it into a bunch of 'smaller' agencies in 20 years they will all be bloated up to the size of the FBI, so we'll just have a dozen fucking FBIs anyway.

I understand the contempt and distrust, but this would be a necessary strategy for maintaining law enforcement standards and resources across all states which can only occur at the federal level. Do you really want California's impotent state police to allow a base of operations to criminal orgs who target Texas and Florida?
We also would not want to eliminate our homegrown expertise in cyber security, forensics, or human trafficking just to name a few.

But it's not. The FBI group that raided Mar-a-Lago were the same ones involved in Spygate, which tells us the deep state must rely on only a corrupt portion of the agency. The problem is not the agency itself, the problem is the structure that facilitated the corruption.

Agreed. Every single alphabet agency needs to be gone. There isn't one of them that actually does anything to represent the American people because they do not answer to the people. They are corrupt, bloated bureaucracies that serve the political establishment. Period. Power needs to be returned to the states so the people are closer to those in power and can remove them if need be.

I know that folks aren't fans of the feds but many states and cities rely on the FBI labs and other high tech things that federal money can provide. You would need something to bridge the gap in capability while you tear down one and replace it with something else. US Marshals could take over some of it, state police some other parts, etc.
