The issue I have with a social that is only available through a mobile app is that mobile isn't secure for most.
And even if it was secure, some of the things that may be exposed on Truth could fall in the category of being prosecutable to download or spread, and lets face it, the people that most need to see some of this stuff are the people the least likely to download the app.
Meaning spreading it outside of the app to other socials will pretty much be a must in order to wake people up to the truths they don't want to believe....
I see the argument for why mobile only as far as age verification is concerned(which again raises the privacy issue as that requires access to data from your service provider) but as far as waking people up with what is found on Truth there are issues with limiting it in this way.....
Just viewing certain things are prosecutable and your ISP has a record of files viewed/downloaded. So TS won't have direct graphic content, no way. Trials & sentences are more likely IMO.
Surely it has to be 18+ so nothing has to be censored and to stop it getting spammed with porn and pedos etc and MSM calling for it to be shut down and using that as an excuse. I've noticed the 'Net has changed big time since the 1990's. I know it's obvious but there's one thing that I've noticed that's different between back then and now.
It's really easy to access porn online. I mean, one can go to a porn website and get a "Are you 18 or older?" message. If you click on "yes", you are automatically in and you can see a lot of free content.
Back then in the 90's, there were a lot of "Net Nannies" sites where you HAVE to provide a credit card, just to prove that you're 18 or older. You can see a bit of porn on the "18 or older?" splash screen but they're covered up. You have to go past that "gate" in order to see the free content because once you use your credit card info, it verifies your age then you can see everything for free and then use the CC for any premium content.
I know this has nothing to do with Truth Social being 18+ and pretty much won't have pornographic content on there, but the point is websites are not being strict with the "18 or older" rule everywhere. I believe this is one of the many points that Truth Social is trying to establish. We need to be more strict and careful with kids when they go online. Yes we can be responsible on our side (firewall blacklist/whitelist, parental control, ACL, time limit at the router side) but not many parents have the ability to set something like that up.
I recently commented on someone's post talking about this a bit and a friend of mine allowed their 6 year old child to have a Facebook account. I wanted to tell my friend it was a dumb idea but my friend is one of the kind where if you try to tell them anything, they don't give a shit what you think. This was a few years ago and their 6 year old is probably around 11 by now.
I pray they make it easy to share posts and media from TS to non-users so they know where the info is coming from. If we have to copy/paste or screenshot the media and then distribute it by proxy, people won’t know where we’re getting the info and thus won’t be encouraged to join so they can be in the know.
In other words, I hope they don’t make logging in required to view shared content
