This degree of trauma is really uncommon in football and I'm surprised with some of the head injuries it hasn't happened more frequently. It's a violent game. Pure conjecture here, but this goes along with 3 to a degree. They definitely have some sort of hold on the players. A few years back, an NFL running back claimed that the league was scripted and make the players sign an NDA so that it doesn't get out how much scripting goes into it. It's a legit question. I don't know the answer but I know professional athletes world wide have collapsed and died. I would guess the others on the field most likely took the jab and have seen what's been going on around them and probably are equally compassionate toward the young man as they are in fear for themselves.
