From my personal experience, if you cut out sugar pretty much entirely, eat minimal carbs, and give your digestive system atleast 14 hours rest between dinner and breakfast, you will be amazed how quickly your health turns around (not to mention weight loss).

Why this is hidden in plainsight beats me. I watched my wife do this for 6 months before I even started because I was that skeptical. And once I started, it was so easy. The daily fasting really kicks your body off of sugar dependance, reduces insulin, and next thing you know you dont even crave sugar. And if you keep it up, you are actually turned off by the same sweet stuff you always liked.

Crazy.

I'm Italian. I have to eat pasta. Is there any hope for me?? Seriously

permalink parent save report block reply

I have noticed that with this, eating reasonable amount of carbs as part of regular meals during the day is fine. And by reasonable, for me its third carbs, third veggies and third meat. The 14 hours gap is the crucial part, because that gives a chance to burn the carbs and also burn some of the stored fat.

To add to that, avoid whole wheat "healthier option" pastas. I'm from a pasta eating family, and I've noticed that the closer to the proper Italian pasta my noodles are (as in made with durum flour and as fresh as possible), the better I feel after eating them.

IDK man... Bought a flour mill and made me some fresh whole wheat pasta. That stuff is incredible.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– GopherEverett 4 points 3 years ago +4 / -0

I can see that working out because you made the pasta yourself, so you had full control of the ingredients. Those "healthier" option boxed pastas are usually made with enhanced wheat flour and have additives that end up hurting you, not healing you.

▲ 3 ▼
– bubble_bursts 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Yeah, the mistaken belief that "wholemeals" or "multigrain breads" are somehow any less unhealthier than their "white" preprocessed counterparts is quite rampant.

If you want to eat healthy carbs, your best bet is to actually get unrefined grains and use them.

Also, cooking your own pasta, for example, is far more healthier than a preprocessed "healthier option" pasta.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– GopherEverett 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

And if you have the time and space to do it, making pasta from scratch is so worth it. It may take a few tries, but once you get the knack of it, you'll realize that boxed pastas aren't even in the same galaxy as far as taste and versatility.

We are partial to Lasagne, and we make it all completely from scratch. Wife makes the ragu and cream sauce using leeks, and I make the pasta from scratch. Our son refuses to eat outside Lasagna and for us, this is the ultimate benchmark!

yeah I'm same, giving up bread and pasta was no big deal once circadian rhythms were fixed.

Eat a big protein/fat breakfast as close to waking up as you can, ideally eat outside around or after sunrise.

Get in full spectrum sun daily

Get it much much closer to natural dark conditions after the sun goes down,

Keep off the bright screens / tech after hours as well.

All of this directly impacts cravings. What needs to happen is the leptin receptor needs to accurately assess the leptin amounts in the body, and this drives appetites. Leptin is found in high amounts in subcutaneous fat under the skin, so getting skin in sunlight resensitizes this hormone's function.

This is why indigenous or natural lifestyle expats that live down in the subtropics/tropics/equator do not get fat and lethargic. Even if they keep eating rice and other grains... because the UV sunlight is the hormone and energy utilization conductor for the body.

Spelt pasta is probably your best bet if you continue to eat grain products, the added + is that pasta made from spelt has a lot more taste/flavor to it and makes regular pasta seem positively bland and tasteless.

Also, traditionally in Itallian diet pasta was the side to the meat rather than the other way around that has become the reality in modern times, pasta was traditionally something that was eaten with meat rather than the main body of the meal with some meat added for flavor that it has morphed into.

TLDR: More Meat BETTER....

Honestly Italian grains process in the body weight different than American grains. Anyone who's traveled overseas knows just how much the chemicals in American soil and rivers affect our bodies. So many people have been to Italy and back and note that they did not gain weight, they did not feel bloated, they did not feel fogbrain even though they ate nothing but pasta the entire time. Same with my family when we just got back from the Philippines, where young members of my family said they ate whatever they wanted and didn't feel bloated nor did they gain any weight.

I began buying Einkorn wheat, which is the ancient original wheat. And despite being "gluten-sensitive", I can eat everything made with Einkorn with zero problems. It is a little trickier to bake with so you have to follow recipes closely, but it tastes fabulous. NO bloating or other problems. I love it.

no! HAVE to eat pasta? Maybe hope for you if you can cut back on the whites. White sugar, flour, pasta & rice. It's kinda hard though because it's rather addictive. AND it is in everything you eat. Start reading the ingredients. SOY is horrible so watch that one and vegetable oils. Best thing I did for my health was to go carnivore. Start with Dr. Anthony Chaffee " plants want to kill you". That will kinda freak ya out. He's a biologist and a neurosurgeon. And then check out KenDBerry's videos. There is hope!

In the two months I've eaten flour products 3 times and got sick all three times. And I used to eat Very good. All whole foods, no junk, lots of veggies, lean meats, didn't eat out but maybe once every couple of months, eat oatmeal, avocado toast for breakfast, lot of fruits. My husband said my bread was compost bread. Still sick as a dog. The difference is unbelievable. oh yah have lost 9 #s as well.

We used to be a family that always loved to eat out in very nice restaurants every once in a while. Now, however, those food just dont taste as amazing as they used to be. I dont know if its because our home cooked meals has reconfigured our tastebuds or the inflation has finally taken its toll on food industry or both!

Also another thing I noticed is that using simple ingredients and fresh produce makes far tastier food than fancy recipes with tons of special ingredients.

– bubble_bursts 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Yeah, if you want to go to the next level after sugars, its to cut out all seed oils and most vegetable oils (except olive, coconut and peanut oil, which seem to be okay). Use animal fats and actual butter (not those kind that spreads so smoothly).

Other good things to do - use pink salt or black salt instead of table salt (throw away the table salt, its poison), eat a lot of turmeric (in cooking), garlic (cooked is good, but raw is better), etc.

But for most people, just giving up soft drinks and processed food alone can give good results to begin with.

This is the way. Eat only Carnivore for thirty days and your life will be changed. I started just over six months ago and I’m down 60 pounds. I quit alcohol at the same time. Ketosis apparently helps you quit all sorts of things. You’ll eventually lose cravings and makes it easier to start skipping meals. This leads to at least intermittent fasting. My wife and I in the last few months have done several multi day fasts 3=5 days. The deeper states of ketosis encourages autophagy. Autophagy is a recently(2012) discovered intracellular process that causes the reprocessing of cellular organelles that have been damaged or are old. Essentially it causes your body to “build back better”, a concept we should embrace on every level. The better build must be of our design and not theirs. Sugar/alcohol and seed oils are destroying our health. Today feeling 20 years younger. Look up Dr. Ken Berry he has the BBB&E thirty day challenge.

My latest kick is pesticides. If it's not organic chances 50-70% it has detected trace pesticides "within safe range" with 1-3% containing "violation" level pesticide content. There's no doubt in my mind, that the paltry testing done by the FDA is allowing folks to poison themselves.

So maybe it has some approved synthetic pesticides, however the main goal is to use no pesticides, or the naturally occurring ones, and overall irs much safer to eat produce that's organic.

It doesn't matter how wheat is processed. What we have now is not even the same species of plant that people 100 years ago called wheat.

I am working toward a keto diet. You can eat leafy vegetables, tomatoes, and a few others. Also, you can eat all the meat and dairy items, except for ice cream with sugar in it. One of my favorites for breakfast is to layer sliced ham and cheese in a plate and microwave it till the cheese melts. Then scramble 2 or 3 eggs and spread on top of the ham. It's filling and keto.

What hurts is that keto is expensive. Most of the bad foods are cheap, such as bread, pasta, rice, and sweets.

Most or all sugar substitutes are probably toxic. Unfortunately, American food is deliberately sweetened. It's addictive and many people struggle to shake the addiction. Personally, I drink water. If a fresh lemon is to hand, I squeeze a little juice into the water. I also drink tea without sugar. (I drink black tea with a little milk.) I drink mountain tea (Greek) usually "sketto" (unsweetened) but very occasionally with a little honey.

Many years ago I weened myself off sugar gradually. I don't know if this method is better or easier than "cold turkey". But for certain I no longer crave sugar. I use cinnamon powder as a sweetener on a few things such as buttered toast (spelt bread only) and on traditional sheep's milk yoghurt.

I imagine that it's not easy to avoid junk foods unless you live in the country but please make an effort.

I buy my fresh meat and veg weekly. I cook or blanche everything and freeze small portions. I keep a couple of portions in the 'fridge if I plan to eat them today or tomorrow.

Our neighbor teaches in Africa during the summer, and he said they use very little sugar. The Africans say our food is way too sweet.

BTW, their food is bland, so he has to carry his own spices.

Have you tried flavored water? Or flavored carbonated water? The ones with no calories/no sugar added? I can drink almost a gallon of water a day now that I’ve not relied solely on regular water.

Yes I've tried Propel and like it, but I don't think that's what you had in mind.

This is the way I view what evil businesses did to us. God gave us everything we need to survive well. Real food, real textiles, real plant/herbs for medicine. We did fine. Then synthetics crept into the food, textiles and medicine. Now we have all kinds of problems. Ever wonder why anyone loses their mind if you take a sip of Dasani from a plastic bottle that may contain BPAs leached into neutral water? but doesn't say a word about sweating on a treadmill, for an hour, with your entire body covered in a synthetic Nike running suit and sweat is corrosive and would leech more that the water in the bottle would. Thoughts.

Nah I’m okay. I’ll just keep working out 5 times a week and eat good food in moderation while doing intermittent fasting.

If someone tells the truth, even if it's Hitler, is it discounted because of who it is? Vet every bit of new info the same way. If it doesn't have verification, it's not true, regardless. If it's provable to be true, then cool. But look at the information for what it is. Scientific method applies to everyone

Pedo is a new one but a guy like him liking the “barely” and “definitely not” legals… I can believe that. It’s his freemason, Rothschild and Yuval Harare / WEF associations I am more surprised.

Brand is an ex-drug addict. He wrote a book about it. He has a massive following. He's also a stand-up comedian.

He's not to everyone's liking but I watch his daily YT videos (some he has to put on BitChute) and he's definitely "on our side" or as near to it as a famous public figure can be.

Arthritis, tooth decay and osteoporosis is pretty much non existent in bodies found in burial-sites from before the advent of agriculture and the growing of grains for food so it's more like any grains regardless of how processed they are....
