Umm it is actually well documented that even a small overdose of paracetamol /acetaminophen can cause severe organ damage like liver failure. I remember reading about someone a looong time (maybe 10 years) ago who took the meds just slightly out of schedule, not even a "proper od", and within a few days they were in critical care with either liver or kidney damage, can't remember which.
So yeah, there's a reason why you don't take more than the recommended dosage of that particular drug, and never more than the total in that 24 span. It's also why I use primarily ibuprofen for any pain relief, as it just fucks up your stomach usually if you get it even a little bit wrong. Paracetamol fucks up everything if even your timing is off.

A friend's mom died of liver failure after a small amount. She already had been diagnosed with fatty liver disease and knew not to take "Tylenol" but I guess she did not read the ingredients in the cold medication she took (1000 mg of acetaminophen per adult dose). Dead within two days. I have not taken anything with acetaminophen since my friend told me what happened. If you absolutely have to take tylenol, get you some NAC to help your liver cope.

Take a shit ton like the idiots doing these tiktok challenges are doing and it will also fuck you up, of course, but it's not take a little more than you should and you could develop severe organ failure levels of fuck up. The differences are not trivial. Tylenol is basically a non-opioid analgesic (pain killer) and antipyretic which is specifically to deal with pain management or fever reduction in the main. Ibuprofen is a NSAID or non steroidal anti inflammatory drug, which is for the same conditions + fighting inflammatory pains (which the body can generate for any number of reasons).
Tylenol will do almost fuck all for an inflammatory issue, but it will make it feel better by killing off the pain. Advil will help with the pain by reducing the inflammation causing it.
Personal experience of both has for me been to use ibuprofen for body pain or headache, and to use acetaminophen / paracetamol more when I have a fever due to a flu or cold. The latter is more often combinable with other drugs to manage cold/flu symptoms, and inflammation isn't really the source issue when your body is fighting infections

Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. Tylenol is a painkiller. Two different applications.
Tylenol is processed by the liver. Ibuprofen by the kidneys, is my understanding. I was once prescribed three Tylenol and three ibuprofen to be taken together twice per day after a dental procedure.
That's pretty common for dental stuff now. It's a good idea to take as little as possible.
I prefer white willow bark capsules for mild pain management. Even then, not many and not often.

A bit more than that for acetametophen /paracetamol, but nut a lot. A lethal dose of the drug is 7g, or 14 tablets in one go. In the UK it is one of the most common forms of OD apparently.
If you catch the problem early, recovery is possible. By early, I mean within 48 hrs for a more mild od. The person in question probably downed a bottle. It is not a nice way to die.
There are reasons why it is called a recommended dose, and doing more than recommended is hazardous.
I thought it was fine for year, it won't fuck you up badly. Then read the metro paper in London one day going into work. Some poor kid was admitted to hospital for taking some a few hours before she should have and was being treated 3 days later for severe liver & kidney issues. At that point I limited it's use on me fast.

Stop that crap mate. Get yourself a kit of MMS (Chlorine Dioxide) and if you feel any illness like cold or flu coming on, mix up a dose and it will disappear. Totally safe, no side affects.

There is a toxicity associated to too much taken in a short interval, even by a "double dose". It's rare and often genetic/weak liver related. That teen girl I mentioned I read about did that effectively - two doses too close together basically crippled her liver.

Twenty years ago or more, the govt forced pharma companies to reduce the amount of Tylenol in pain meds - some used to have upwards of 750 mg Tylenol in each pill. Now they are restricted to 325 mg per pill. No one should take more than 4000 mg per day. Yes, it kills your liver. I can only surmise that since everyone is different, this woman had a higher susceptibility to Tylenol.
Think of it this way. If she took 500 mg Tylenol, 8 alone is 4000 mg.
