Again, no actual specifics. Just using the phrases like 'expended ammo'. If the enemy has infinite bullets how do you know when they are running low? If they were planning for some weird event to occur to distract on Monday but now Monday is cancelled, how does that actually help anyone? If the event is then called off, nothing happens. If the event is not called off, something weird happens and a shitload of people's lives are negatively affected. I am missing anything positive about that. And if you claim that they had to spend a lot of resources to manufacture this event but it was called off, how do you know there was an event there in the first place (because it didn't happen so no one knows about it)?

Information presented in a news conference would be “singing to the choir” and would not require a sworn response from the opposition. By making it part of an official motion in an ongoing criminal proceeding, he will force the prosecution to respond and the judge to make an on record ruling. At the least an appeal issue is established. An official filing can be kept on point thus framing the subsequent response. This is a very good move.
