He said he just saw Sam ( my Dad) and he was at a party with all of his family and with Gene's family and that he wanted to go!. E held my father's services within a few days and in the way to the service Gene's wife called me saying Gene saw my Dad again and she hasn't told him that dad had passed and he is demanding to talk to Dad. So when I got in the phone after she told me not to tell him because he is weak, I asked Gene what happened and what did Dad say. He said that Dad told him to " forget about the papers you signed, to come on its worth it". I told him that Dad was in rehab and was doing really well. Three days later I went to Gene and asked about his conversation with Dad. He told me. I said that Dad was telling him to renounce the Masons that the papers he signed to forget it. My dad and his father were both freemasons, idk what levels. My dad was an Episcopal clergyman and I could never understand how those 2 affiliations could fit together. There is a very thin veneer of legitimacy (largely for plausible deniability) in freemasonry. I've read a lot of different things about the Masons, but the only direct experience I have with it is my friend's dad. He's a Mason, and to hear him tell it, it's nothing but a social club. I think he's only 1st or 2nd degree. He's just a regular guy who has 2 stickers on the back of his Jeep, Masons and Fraternal Order of Police (he's a detective).
