In recent weeks, I've had two people, that I genuinely like and respect, go off the rails on Trump without considering that I may not feel the same way. This brazen confidence of TDS sufferers drives me nuts more than anything. Both have expressed with high emotion how much they hate him and each would like to see him in jail - or worse. In these cases, I've bitten my tongue and changed the subject because I didn't want to ruin the relationship - but at the same time I silently questioned their individuality and common sense. No human is perfect. DJT, while awesome and a very stable genius, has flaws like everyone else. But to ignore the Cadaver in Chief currently acting as pResident and his horrendous performance the past three years while focusing on hating his unfairly represented poltical opposition is just a sign of how well the propaganda has worked. My fear is that these type of people will never see past the lies they've come to believe as gospel and that 2024's election is going to be the most contentious, yet. What do you think will have to happen for these people to see the light? Destruction of the MSM? WWIII? Biden and his global cohorts arrested for crimes against humanity? All of the above? I think next time anyone expresses hate for Trump, I am just going to ask them why they feel that way. I'm thinking they've been told to hate him for so long, they really won't know how to answer.

I do not associate with anyone who hates Trump. I'm not very diverse in my relationships, I guess. I'm often told that I need to watch CNN just so I can have an idea of the vitriol being spewed by the other side...but I don't have the stomach for it...nor, do I have the stomach for friendships/relationships with people who suffer from TDS. That's just me.

My inner sanctum all feel the way I do. These are working professionals that I occasionally interact with and up very recently, I had no clue they hated Trump so passionately because politics never came up.

I've thrown caution to the wind because I was ready to be fired when I refused the jab, so I've tried a few different tacks. If you've got a good poker face, "y'know I've got maga in the family and I was trying to find sources for (whatever nonsense they just spewed), but couldn't. You got some links?" Or, "I have a hard time understanding what the DOJ is even doing about the J6 insurrection, because they're not charging any of those guys with insurrection at all, it's weird. At least they didn't take their guns, that would have been crazy, I mean, they'd probably still be there now, under piles of beer cans, amirite?" Or, "right, we need to make sure he and Russia don't steal another election- we need to get rid of hackable equipment and go back to paper and IDs for transparency! What do you mean no ID? Why on earth not? You don't think certain types of people are too dumb to get IDs, are you? I mean, shoot, we just did all that diversity training, don't be getting us into trouble like that."
I'm not real good at playing dumb, but I can get into aggressively illustrating absurdity enough that they will stay to go with it, until they see where the road leads, lol
This exactly. First it was favorite actors from old TV shows, then singers from favorite groups, then old favorite baseball or football players, and now it is friends, acquaintances, and relatives. I don't watch much TV anymore other than stuff I have on Plex (and OAN), I don't like really any new music anymore, I don't watch baseball or NFL (I do still like College football though), and I no longer associate with a bunch of people ever since the pandemic made so many people transparent.
Once these people say what they really feel it makes it clear to me that I am not their core audience and I simply walk away. I don't need that in my life.

All good advice. My gut is to ask what did he ever do to you? And see if they can come up with anything that isn't emotion related. I dislike Biden because I see the effects of his decisions on my livelihood, but I don't and wouldn't ever come out and tell them how much I don't like him. I think it is poor etiquette and tacky to do so.

Putting the onus on them is how it works. You wait for them to spew their stupidity. Ask innocently “What do you mean by that? Can you show me this?” This works wonders because as soon as they’re put on the spot their programming tells them they should be able to Google and present a mountain of evidence. When they look, they find none and it causes a melt down. They’ll find hit pieces but you ask for official court documents, charging accusations from a legal establishment etc. Do this every single time and they’ll eventually stop saying it around you or they’ll end up going off on you for questioning them =]

I’ve had this exact situation pop up. Reference points. He was in a consensual sexual relationship. While I was talking to this older woman I looked her in the eyes and said “Let’s be real, you’re attractive for your age, but back in your 20’s you were more than likely quite the foxy catch. If someone had recorded the things you said in your bedroom and they were aired to the public how well do you think that would be received?” She didn’t have much to say. He’s a billionaire, it was lockerroom talk, guys AND women say MUCH worse.

My parents have full blown TDS. My relationship with them has been reduced to email since Trump was elected and cemented when COVID kicked in. My only close relative stopped talking to me when Trump was elected even though I was going through some of the hardest parts of my life - abandoned me.

Just had a reconnection with some family here after close to two years of silence. I prayed about it forever, and finally got the "Go Sign" from the Lord. Timing was perfect - they had been going through hell from (I suspect) clot shot related illnesses, which thankfully made them begin questioning the brainwashing that made them decide they'd rather follow masking protocols than associate with their family. They're much more awake now, and I'm being gentle with them, as they were completely in the wrong on this issue. It TORE ME UP, but the Lord set it straight. Very thankful.
A very powerful comment. I have found myself praying a lot more through this process. God Guided us on a journey (up and moving from DC after entire life to NC) and we were truly blessed to finally be able to leave the toxic environment and its people. I’m seeing people waking up but I’m not the gentle type. The people that turned on me aren’t going to wake up 4-6%.
My wedding was a bit of a litmus test in this regard, only a few declined without a reason and it was the ones that I expected to.

I've essentially lost my only sister (who was more of a mother to me growing up than our REAL mother) because I engaged in the cardinal sin of calling out her TDS, and shining light on the lies with which she allowed MSM to pollute her brain. We went from talking 1-2x a week to not speaking in any way for months now. I don't see a way back, either...because she's one that will NEVER admit she was wrong about any of this.

I concur because as I have grown older my time is more valuable and there is no point wasting that energy arguing with those that are not aligned with my principles. Either you are going down the same path or you are choosing to take the fork in the road early. I have a good friend of many years, and a close relative, in a similar situation.

But you can offer a lifeline by pointing out the thin cracks in their thought bubble... gas prices, no wars, Abraham accords, and anything else the person might be receptive to. I just thought of something that worked for someone I know. Ask them, why do you think he ran for president? They might say, to get more famous or rich. But his net worth went down considerably when he was president, so that can't be it. He was already super rich and had a beautiful wife, life, home and family. He could have just coasted and enjoyed life. But even though he lost a ton of money the first time around, he was willing to run again. So it wasn't about the money. If they say, he just wanted to get more famous. Seriously? How famous is famous? He was already known around the world. In fact, I've been watching some Brit programs - older shows from before he was president. I'm shocked at how many times his name comes up! Shocked! EVERYBODY, it seems, knows Donald Trump. So he couldn't have gotten more famous. And with his first term, so many people who used to absolutely love him came out against him one thousand percent. Even still, he endured that and ran again. So why did he put himself through all that - all the hatred, all the vitriol, all the lies and impeachments, and even losing a billion dollars of his own money? For what? When all he had to do was ride off into the sunset?
That opened the eyes of a severely TDS mother-in-law of someone I know. It's the sort of things WE know and think of all the time, but those with TDS are too stupid to think about it. Maybe it would help you with your acquaintances.

I went on a date with a girl in Michigan and she kept saying, “oh you know how those Trump people are” in recurring comments disparaging someone. I got sick of it and said, what’s wrong with Trump supporting people.
She got very quiet and looked angry when she realized who I was. Needless to say we had no more dates.

That is the worst offender -- Those that believe that you automatically align with their dislike of Trump. It is such a sign of clueless arrogance.
Two thoughts on the matter:
In the past I would be angry, or frustrated, or exhausted. Now I find myself laughing quietly to myself (sometimes not so quietly). TDS requires a lot of energy, and I find it remarkable/mystifying how much negative energy hate can generate.
I truly wonder what will happen to them when the levy breaks. Will the rule of threes apply? Perhaps:
-One-third will be extremely upset/volatile/angry/vomiting/wretching, etc, but will eventually recover
-One-third will dip into psychosis/dissosiative state and possibly never recover
-One-third have heart attacks, stroke out (heads literally exploding), or overdose/suicide because of an inability to accept it (suicide weekend?).
I don't want bad things to happen to them, but I seriously wonder what will become of their lives.
I have no time for cowardice in this time we live in. Speak up and if they drop you as a friend then they will have done you a favour.
I’ve noticed they hate his personality and private life - not his policies. I still don’t get TDS 100% though. I try to imagine a cheesy woman with good policies that makes me cringe and I never get all worked up about it. I think they just see him as fake and therefore annoying.

Why do you hate him exactly? Aside from mean tweets... which I am sure anyone is equally guilty of... sticks and stones.
After they bring up racism and that horseshit, ask them for a single specific example.
Ask them if their life was better with his tax breaks, sub $2 gas and low inflation or if they're better now with Potatus.
Ask them what Potatus, specifically, or even the demonrats, have done to make their lives better since Trump left office.

When people bring up the mean tweets and such, I point out that he talks bad about politicians, journalists, and celebrities. Why do they care if someone speaks ill of a politician?

I ask them why they hate him or dislike him. Then ask for proof of the lies they tell me. Usually ends up with them saying they would rather not talk about it.
Agreed. You know it eats at them that they can't justify their stance. Then later they look into it. We can't make them accept the facts, but at least the facts are out there.

If I meet someone who’s suffering from TDS … I let them spew, expose themselves… I enjoy drawing these people out (Cuz I know I’ll embarrass them with facts/truth) … I marvel at the stupidity - it amazes me how stupid people actually are / on top of the ‘Cognitive Dissonance’ ? Shit TDS is a formidable barrier…

I do not give one f*ck why people with TDS feel the way they do, and feel no responsibility to help them change their mind. They came to that belief in their own way and will, either, change their mind at some point or not.

Most people I know with TDS, also were anti government 15 years ago. I just ask them why they trust the government now? It’s worked a few times now.
That is exactly what I say to people who didn't believe the Media's Covid BS, but suddenly believe them about The Ukraine and Israel. Soooo they were lying to you then, but telling the truth now??

By the point it gets to that in a conversation (and it occasionally has), I've usually strung the other party along for quite awhile with a balanced reasonable chat, often where we're in agreement or at least find a common ground on the subjects at hand.
If TDS comes up by this point, most often I'll say something like "well, I'm a full fledged Q-tard, you know, a Q Anon" and do this emoji with my body: 🤷♂️
Followed by "but I don't really talk about it. I guess we're not all as crazy as we're made out to be". and another 🤷♂️
In the moment, we usually carry on cordially with the conversation and it's all good. In the small handful of instances this has happened with people I consider "more than acquaintances", I'd say 80% then disappeared from my life. Maybe they got busy, it's certainly possible as these were mostly busy people. Regardless, it's ultimately their loss as I suspect I brought more Joy to their lives than I will be missing from them.

If you like and respect them they are good people. Remember they are victims of intense brainwashing. In a way, they are hypnotized and when the topic of Trump comes up they have been programed to immediately go straight to emotion and bypass logic. Hang in there, and be there for them when they start to come out from under the spell.
Thank you for the reply. Neither of these individuals are flaming liberals and I really only encounter them in a professional environment. One is a brilliant chiropractor that has helped me overcome debilitating back issues and the other is a coworker that sees through most of the BS, but for whatever reason they have been hypnotized by the media pendulum. I don't see either very often and this subject has only come up one time with each, unprovoked. I guess they felt comfortable enough sharing those feelings with me, so maybe I should feel flattered? 🤷♀️

It is strange to me as well. I've encountered 3 TDS in the last year that are not liberals AND they ARE people of faith. I couldn't believe my ears. One of them called him an "evil cad". I have no idea where they get their information but they are full on all in on hating Trump. I fear the church has been infiltrated to some degree. It's so sad.
