Buy a good old Zippo lighter and a large supply of flints. Even without lighter fluid, you can make sparks with it to start fires. That's a much better deal than Bic lighters. Buy two of the Zippo lighters in case one breaks or you lose it.

The difference in my view is I don't think the white hats are going to allow it to get to the point where people without gold/silver can't buy anything.

The problem with gold and silver, and their equally valuable cousins brass and lead, is weight and volume.
If things go full Mad Max, most people wont be able to 'shelter in place'. They will be on the run or wandering in search of resources. Carrying gold and silver will become secondary to carrying brass and lead, food and water. So all that gold and silver you have bought will actually be worthless in that scenario. And if you think to use it as barter it will have small value compared to life giving resources.
Imagine I have food and water but no fuel or fire starting capability. You need food and water but only have silver to exchange. Keep your silver, it does me no good. I need fuel or a lighter.
So while stacking sounds good, and I have been stacking since the early 1980s, it will only be valuable in a situation where society doesnt crumble into dust, which 'The Plan' assures us wont happen. And if that is the case, those who havent stacked will have some assurances that the WHs have taken their needs into account.

Thus, it's not about people suddenly only accepting gold/silver coins for goods and services. I do not have one, I've thought about it, but I have buckets of freeze dried survival food, I buy about 200 dollars worth of "pantry" food a month, and those big buckets, about 5 a year, I have a good stock, and two cats who keep the basement clear of critters. We have mre's, first aid supplies stocked up, liquor for bartering. I think for the amount I grow, it would not be worth it, I let the companies who have been doing it for years do it for me, it would probably work out even steven as far as cost, and for things like meats and fish, for storage, the same. What would really be wonderful is a good deep root cellar. Fresh eggs keep for months when you do not refrigerate them. We eat fresh and save all non perishables. But a good root cellar will keep cabbages, carrots, potatos, onions, garlic, apples, beets, parsnips, etc for 9 months. Iodine, water purification tablets, etc.
How is a root cellar superior to a fridge?
If you have solar panels, it's probably better to buy a chest freezer and raise the temp above freezing, as the cold air won't fall out when you open the lid. You don't even need batteries, as the freezer can keep the cold in for days.

you would not need ultra cold temps for root crops and cabbage or eggs, 40 ish is fine. You would, of course need it for meats and fresh milk. If you grow a package of carrot seeds or cabbages, and you do not want to can it all, you can keep them in a root cellar up to 6-7 months, through the winter. Cabbage can be fermented into sauerkraut,but its really nice to eat non processed foods through winter, and this is a way to do it. I use carrots in a lot of meals, stir frys, stews and soups, so I would not want to can them, anyway.
no need for electricity, if its done right, keeps a lot of food at around 40 degrees, requires some cross air ventilation, and a way to keep the moisture out, garden lime on the floor is good for that.
I've seen videos of people who found them not worth it, mainly because they hold so little and take 24 hours or more for a single batch. It's a whole lot quicker to can foods. I have a dehydrator, but haven't used it much, as I can still buy dried foods pretty cheap. Also, you can dry things out in the sun under an old window glass or under the back glass of your car.

I still have to get around to reading those ones and some of the others. Maybe I’ll look at audiobook versions as his stuff tends to be tomes.
