Voat definitely ended up with very few overall posters. Most subverses were empty and full of bots with racist rhetoric, a lot of discussions were derailed by "but free speech" raging because people refused to adhere to the rules.

This nor Patriots.win are specifically free speech havens. There are rules that we agree to when we participate, and if we cannot even have that kind of discipline then things will be derailed from things that the posts are even somewhat related to.

Nothing about FE makes sense. It does not explain the 24 hour day cycle as a sun in the air over a flat disc would be visible across the entire disc, nor does it explain the seasons, nor even how ships disappear over the horizon of the ocean. You have to completely disregard the simplest explanation (Occam's Razor) to engage in mental gymnastics to try to explain a concept of our world that makes no sense at all. So ultimately they retreat to the "it's all an illusion" argument. Too much drugs or something. I think the "Hollow Earth" concept with a world full of underground caverns and such is a far more plausible theory, and that's not something I give much thought to. This is what I thought was the simplest, most obvious explanation for anyone.
From discussion's I've seen, there is pretty much agreement on both sides on the "distance to the horizon line on a sphere" math.
What I wasn't able to explain away is why a ship can disappear to the naked eye "over the horizon", but then it can show up again if you zoom in with a telescope or superzoom camera.
^ If that is actually happening then we have some theory or assumption wrong somewhere.
Maybe light curves around the surface of the earth too, but I've never seen that explanation offered as a response?

It looks like the biblical translators injected their own ideas into the translation. Hence, oh yeah, let's translate this as 'firmament'.
But they also could NOT have conceived intellectually that a plane weighing 20 tons could fly. Or that wireless communication could exist. etc.

Generally, there is not enough open-source evidence yet to determine if the globe-shape is the lie or the heliocentricity is the lie being intentionally hidden by the CIA's "Flat Earth" disinformation operation. It could be one, the other, both, something else, or all the above. The CIA would not need to run what appears to be a 76 year psyop against it if nothing about it was true or threatening. As a mod of Conspiracies, I would like to point out that there are specific communities on this website (Scored/Communities) for flat earth discussion. I don't encourage flatties to flock to conspiracies, they should go to flat earth or flat earth research.
FE discussion is permitted on Conspiracies, but only because the users want freedom of speech. It's definitely ridiculed by the majority when it comes up. We are not "flat-earth friendly" by any stretch of the imagination. Personally, I also wanted to ban it because it's toxic for conspiracy forums, but I surveyed the users about it first, and complete freedom of speech was more important to them. Thankfully stupid topics tend to get filtered by the voting system and the vigilance of the user base, so such mod-enforced censorship is not necessary.

By calculating the length of the shadows and how far apart the obelisks were they were able to calculate the curvature of the Earth to near perfection. Simple tests like this can even be done today on one's own to prove the Earth is a globe.

When you go to that website you will find that those flights to Antarctica are only going to King George Island which is part of the South Shetland Islands. So the words "Flights to Antarctica" is very misleading. The South Shetland Islands are off the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. They aren't landing on the Antarctic land mass. BTW I've been to the continent of Antarctica twice - both times on a Coast Guard Polar Icebreaker. We were breaking the passage leading to McMurdo Station.

During summertime, the northernmost regions of Alaska experience daylight lasting well past the 24 hour cycles. Out of curiosity, I just did a search for Cape Horn, the southernmost tip of South America. During the summer there in December/January, the skies will turn to twilight but not full night.
A flat disc in which Antarctica creates this enormous ring to "keep the water from falling off the edge" would have a daylight cycle of a very small sun spinning along the Earth like a needle on a record. To account for seasons, this sun would have to spin inwards and outwards counterclockwise, spinning closer to the center to account for summertime in the northern hemisphere and spinning along the "edge" to account for summer in the southern hemisphere. If so, with that puny sun is somehow spinning along the edge of this supposed Antarctica, it would not explain how Cape Horn does not fall completely into night skies during summertime. Cape Horn and Australia would be so incredibly far apart that there's no way they could both be lighted by the sun at once. One could go on and on disproving Flat Earth without even needing to go into space. Q even posted pictures taken from the South Pole. It's because in the center of the plane there is an extremely large pole with very powerful magnets attached to each end.
That pole is poked through the center of earth and since it's been there for billions of years that hole has gradually worn out a bit so the pole no longer fits firmly.

This nor Patriots.win are specifically free speech havens. There are rules that we agree to when we participate, and if we cannot even have that kind of discipline then things will be derailed from things that the posts are even somewhat related to.
The rules are fairly clear, and the mods do a decent job of not just slamming the ban button on regular posters but there are limits.

Nothing about FE makes sense. It does not explain the 24 hour day cycle as a sun in the air over a flat disc would be visible across the entire disc, nor does it explain the seasons, nor even how ships disappear over the horizon of the ocean. You have to completely disregard the simplest explanation (Occam's Razor) to engage in mental gymnastics to try to explain a concept of our world that makes no sense at all. So ultimately they retreat to the "it's all an illusion" argument. Too much drugs or something. From discussion's I've seen, there is pretty much agreement on both sides on the "distance to the horizon line on a sphere" math.
What I wasn't able to explain away is why a ship can disappear to the naked eye "over the horizon", but then it can show up again if you zoom in with a telescope or superzoom camera. ^ If that is actually happening then we have some theory or assumption wrong somewhere.

I think that historically, up to a point (aka Copernicus?) the Western concept of the universe was the earth at the center of the whole system, with the sun moon and stars rotating around it, and the only way they could conceive that as working was if those things were all held in place by some sort of firm structure (material spheres). Hence, oh yeah, let's translate this as 'firmament'.

By calculating the length of the shadows and how far apart the obelisks were they were able to calculate the curvature of the Earth to near perfection. Simple tests like this can even be done today on one's own to prove the Earth is a globe.

Exactly. There must be a very specific degree of curvature to create such effects. When you calculate the degree, you find out that it must curve so much as to curve all the way around back to itself again, meaning a globe shape.

And our view is only a tiny fraction of the whole sky. And by relative perspective, things outside our atmosphere don’t appear to move much because we only see a similar view for only so long before our lives are over. Orion’s Belt is no longer over the pyramids of Egypt. But it was directly over head when they were built and that’s a fact.
Watch Intersteller and listen closely to what they discuss about gravity wells, and time. That easily explains why things outside our atmosphere appear to not move much, compared to human lifetimes.

When you go to that website you will find that those flights to Antarctica are only going to King George Island which is part of the South Shetland Islands. A flat disc in which Antarctica creates this enormous ring to "keep the water from falling off the edge" would have a daylight cycle of a very small sun spinning along the Earth like a needle on a record. To account for seasons, this sun would have to spin inwards and outwards counterclockwise, spinning closer to the center to account for summertime in the northern hemisphere and spinning along the "edge" to account for summer in the southern hemisphere. If so, with that puny sun is somehow spinning along the edge of this supposed Antarctica, it would not explain how Cape Horn does not fall completely into night skies during summertime. Cape Horn and Australia would be so incredibly far apart that there's no way they could both be lighted by the sun at once. One could go on and on disproving Flat Earth without even needing to go into space. Q even posted pictures taken from the South Pole. It's because in the center of the plane there is an extremely large pole with very powerful magnets attached to each end.

I was a flat-earther for awhile. Now I'm not sure. It also doesn't really matter so much. There are bigger fish to fry. The truth will come out, no matter what it is. I was a big fan of Eric Dubay, probably the most respected (by flat earthers) and most published flat earther of our time. That was until I found strong evidence that he is or at least was an aggressive woman abuser, and he lived in Washington D.C. (he denies it). Smells like C.I.A.

This is both a bunk excuse and an excuse with some amount of merit. The minds who created it are either gone or far out of the workforce, the factories that manufactured the technology are likely all gone and what remains is probably in China.

I think the more interesting questions are: How did film survive the radiation of the belt, even through the weak parts, and how come we can't go back with newer, better, faster and more hardened technologies?

Except it's not like that at all. Space is infinitely more complex than oceanic travel and navigation, with a vast difference in the number of variables that can go wrong.
Ship building for oceanic navigation had many centuries of practice and refinement, whereas we (supposedly) only had one single manned mission to the moon and that was all.
It's disingenuous to call them anywhere in the realm of the same situation, and it's also wrong from a physics standpoint too.
The problem remains why didn't we ever innovate and iterate on it until SpaceX entered the scene and instead left the technology to "disappear".
Something doesn't add up somewhere in the equation, but it's not necessarily that it is a "forgotten" technology on its face. It clearly goes deeper than that.
